Why dont you get them from your local computer dealer. I think they are costly because they are long in size.

Local dealer are having those normal cables each of Rs 20/- i don't want those

0 customer reviews on newegg too... and specifications don't claim anything more than a standard cable does..

its like psychological marketing... overprice them so that customers would buy and check what's the fuzz

by the way... that same thing is priced cheaper on it's manufacture's page here StarTech.com - Latching SATA Cables

Not sure, whats so great about those cables ? I bought a few from KMD which have locking clip, are UV Blue (no idea what it means) and one of them has a right-angled clip.

I think some are costly becoz they use gold-plated/copper or good quality wires (similar to what they say in HDMI cables). The cheaper ones may be using ordinary conducting material, hence cheap.

I think one should not gamble with Data by using a cheap SATA2 cable. Data is more important, if you need to store it properly. :)

Normal ones are as good as these. BTW buy your SATA cables as short as u can get. Turns out they are very poorly shielded. Here' the link for further reading ATA-ATAPI.COM -- Serial ATA (SATA) Shorter length means minimum cross talk:D

Only invest if they have latching clip or are right angles ones (guess useful if u have diff hard disk orientation) & even these kind are available cheap in the market these days.

Also never tie them up together or with other power/PATA cables. I did that before & it gave me disk/controller errors:(. Also dont bend them
