Hi All,

I have a SATA HD (Seagate Barracuda 250GB SATA 7200 RPM Hard Drive 250 GB),
I want to buy SATA to USB converter for the same, am planning to buy

eBay India: 2.5
I don't know what does it mean by 2.5"/3.5" ?. Have anyone used the same ? / can anyone help.

Regards
Jijo

Re: SATA to USB for Seagate for Barracuda 250GB

2.5" indicates that the casing is for a 2.5 inch diameter Laptop HDD. Ideally 5400 RPM.

3.5" indicates that the casing is for a 3.5 inch diameter Desktop HDD. Ideally 7200 RPM.

The Seagate Barracuda 250GB SATA 7200 RPM Drive you have is a 3.5" (3.5 Inch) Desktop HDD & the Case on the link u have mentioned won't work for you.

U'll need to get this one: eBay India: 3.5

Re: SATA to USB for Seagate for Barracuda 250GB

2.5mm i s the laptop HDD and 3.5mm is the normal external HDD...

Don't buy the converter, the adapter which comes with it doesn't last long....

It's better to buy a casing...

Hi,

Thanks nehaladsul.

Khurana, what's the difference between converter / casing. The link which he mentioned is Casing right ?

Yeah.....

The link I mentioned is for the Casing. U can use ur drive as a portable drive if u buy the casing. U'll only need a USB cable & the power adapter 9both bundled with the Casing) to use the HDD on any PC.

Re: SATA to USB for Seagate for Barracuda 250GB

The Zebronics one seems decent enough & it would support Win 7.

But if budget is not a problem, Instead of buying the Transcend Casing, I would suggest selling off ur 250GB drive (on the TE Market) & combining that money to buy a new Seagate Freeagent GO 320/500GB. U'll get a new drive + 5 year warranty.

:)
