I connect the charger and it says battery is at 100%. I remove the charger cable to use the phone and it goes down to 15% battery life.

I then connect the USB cable and go to File transfer mode and then it begins charging properly, but progress is too slow. What is the problem? it doesnt charge the phone while connected to the USB cable and in phone mode.

Try a diff charger.

I bought a ERD charger @60rs from SP road. works much better than the original charger :S original chargwer, says 100%. remove and it drops to 95-94 while with the ERD charger, stays at 98-99 when i remove at 100 :S

The SE saga of battery and charger problem continues .. I hate SE phones for this sole reason. Why cant they do some research on this.

what saga :S care to elaborate?
I have had a K750 since 2.5 years, the battery still gives me 3 days :)

no, he's right. SE has had problems for quite a while with their charging system. He wasnt talking about the battery life. Some k750s had a battery contact issue causing it to shut down randomly. Also their charging connectors are pretty lousy. The terminals get gunked up pretty easily and even when theyre clean, getting it to start charging is a hit or miss situation if the plastic holding nubs are loose. I was lucky with my w800 for the past 2.5 years and faced relatively little trouble minus cleaning the contacts every now and then. But a power outage, seemed to have killed the phone's internal charging circuitry. Tried switching chargers...didnt solve anything.

Its actually more of an issue with the plastic contacts on the chargers. Dunno why they cant shift to a better charging port :P

I have had SEs for a while now and have gotten a couple of chargers replaced under warranty for the same reason :)

You might be one of the lucky guys. I have used 3 SE mobiles ... the T310, W550i and K750i, all of which have given me battery charge and charger issues. For one it never starts charging on the first attempt, I always had to fiddle around a little with the charger plug to get it started and secondly it never used to charge fully.

And I say "saga" because SE hasn't really cared to look into this matter. Personally I feel the design of the SE charger ports are not the best. :(

do u get the the message optimizing charging again n again?? wen charging the phones...mind you that its not at all good....as in older SE models with smaller chargin pins like during k300i, k700i series...the charger pin was different and needed adjustment which was pretty much annoying. ultimately the chargin IC conked off and needed replacement. The chargin IC sends a signal tht battery is full and cuts off the chargin supply to the battery.

I had same problem in my k300i, the charging IC is gone now and if i had to replace 250buxx is the cost but the prodedure of fixing it involves severe heating method which can burn neighboring IC's so its very risky and moreover one of my friend did it and in a week it conked off again. ultimately got a charger external one and hav to place the battery on this charger and charge for a particular time. does the job pretty well but for the time its being charged one cannot hav his phone live:(. takes half n hour to charge.

^ Yes there was one time when the charging IC on my W550I started behaving strangely. It did not charge the battery to the full and I had a tough time charging it since the message "Optimizing Charging" kept popping up continuously. I had it sent to the service center and repaired. Its working fine these days but my mom uses it. She says she has no problem charging it. Maybe it requires some gentle handling ;)
