I have an old Seagate 120 GB PATA HDD which seems to have developed some bad sectors and is making strange noises since the last few months. It also disappears from the explorer randomly and only shows up when I restart it and sometimes not even then.
I thought I'd get it RMA'ed but when I checked on Seagate's website, it showed as warranty expired sometime in 2006.
Is there any way of getting out-of-warranty disks RMA'ed by contacting Seagate and paying some cost or do I just back it up and throw it away?
