Please help me regarding the following drive. I want to buy this drive.

[h=1]Seagate STAM3000100 3TB GoFlex Home Network Storage System[/h]
is it good to use with my desktop. I have an wireless router also and I am getting this drive only $130.

So tell me all the good and bad things about it.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, i am using the 2 TB version and its awesome.
Pros -
1)You can install transmission on it and use as downloader,
2)and since it will be on ur wifi u can view videos etc on ur wifi devices ( phone, media player) .
3)Attach a 3 TB external USB drive to the USB port and you have 6 TB NAS.

CONS - So far i have only 1 problem with this. i am not able to use the printer sharing.

My desktop is connected through LAN to my Router. So if I connect that HDD through LAN to router, how much speed I can use, is that speed better than USB 3.0.
one more things, it has only one USB port. Is this port for expand HDD or I can use that usb port to connect my desktop also or I have to use always LAN port for connectivity..

^ If you have a Gigabit network, you can expect around 30 MB/s transfer rates. On fast ethernet, it will be around 10 MB/s

You can use a USB hub and connect multiple USB devices, No, you cannot connect it to your desktop.

you can connect the HDD through LAN only, you cannot connect it directly to PC, unless u have a different base unit.
If your router is 10/100, the xfer speed will be 10 mbps, and if you have a 10/100/1000, the transfer speed will be 30-40 mbps.

My router is 10/100 - linksys WAG200G

Can I connect to my desktop using LAN port directly or I have to always use switch or router.

It gets the IP from the DHCP server, so you would need a DHCP server also in your network if you are using just a switch. For simplicity just connect it to your router.

That standard price in US on Amazon and NEwegg and yesterday whole night it was at $89 only
Now sold out at egg and back to $129 at Amazon

I seriously doubt that 3tb was at 89$. If the drives were at 89$, I am sure it would have found a mention at slick deals. I think you are confusing between the drives.
1tb is 89$. 2tb is 129, 3tb is 159$.
Staples will have them @ 100$ and 130$ for the 2tb and 3tb drives.for blackfriday

Now the price is same but without that combo deal...
