my drive died for the third time :@ any one who is willing to suggest me something

m was using CM 500, 80gb Seagate,500WD (which i purchased when my Seagate died for the first time) no over clock no nothing

i just ran a cold boot and it vanished like a puff :huh:

i already replaced twice before
1: firmware issue
2: drive was not detecting
3: same issue again

does Seagate really sucks??? :@

me no more interested in Seagate or their support

suggest something that i would go through not interested in recovery

i tried to get support on chat but no one was available

so submitted a case

Hi this is the third time my drive had failed have u guys had stop manufacturing reliable drives how much longer ur team will keep evaluating firmware for errors patching faulty firmware on drives and costing a lot to the users

i already replaced it before twice below mentioned are the order numbers

1002274184 dated : September 2009
1003471606 dated : October 2010

waiting for a good respond to this issue from ur side

Got a case number from them lets see what would be next

Sorry to hear that, but there are other members who are using segate drives wothout any issue, you may not be that lucky.

there are issues with 500gb hdds. i am currently on 3rd replaced hdd from seagate. my friend too in same state. then again my WD 500gb is giving bad sectors. my smps is a new corsair 400cx 80% efficient one.

my office did have a seagate 1TB NAS with RAID and all. one day it decided to go ape. luckily, cracked it open (it have typical notch inside which will break if you open by yourself), took hdd out and connected to my Fedora 14 PC, recovered data fully. Seagate replaced it without any issues, eventhough we cracked it open. So, my seniors say Seagate 'might be aware of' the state of affairs :)

i agree with u cause m using Seagate 80 gb which i bought 6 yrs back n its still running fine but then why the new drives are more faulty then the previous assemblies
 
sad to say i got a replacement for my drive """"having same sd15 FW"""" do seagate india dont check their own site for the updates

manually updated my drive firmware to SD1A without loosing data lets wait how long this firmware lasts
 
sd15 suxx :( i posted about it ages ago on various formus , sites .. no proper reply ..

ca 42 is bit risky if not done properly .. data recovery services ASK WAY TOOOO MUCH (i contacted stellar)

data recovery for bricked hard drives was free in many countries .. sad thats not the case here :(

i still got my briked 500gb sd15 :( sadnessss seagate suxxxxx !!!

I used to crib same but not anymore. my advice: Just keep backups and you will be fine:)
 
MY SEAGATE IS WORKING SO SMOOTH AND FINE, JUST HAD SUM ISSUES WITH MY WD one ...... bad sectors after using it for around 2 1/2 years :) it's just ur luck ksanket, hope evrything gets resolved asap ~!
 
Hm, I think its just a problem with the 7200.11s. I have a 7200.10 500GB and it hasn't even thought of dying on me. On the other hand, amongst a mad number of hard drives that I've owned, only a Hitachi Deskstar 160GB ( after a year ) and my WD Raptor 36GB Gen1 ( 7.5 years ) have died.
 
imo i would suggest you to try verbatim drives.using them since a long time now and they have been very very reliable.i have had previous issues with WD
