damn good deal. Wish it was WD as they give international warranty (at least on portable drives, dont know about big ones). Offer is about to expire....... :( quote is from which co?

Also If I don't want want it to ship via any of the 3rd party(ishop, sns) but by some friend living in US & mark as gift, will it cost cheap or it will be the same ???
 
IMO it is (was) not a good deal. After import, price would be ~7.8K, which - without any warranty and that too on a HDD, is a deal breaker.

Yes it can be replaced in India, but you need to contact us again by call or by email in future to get the approval and you need to fill up some information and attach the email with your proof of purchase.

With the approval you can have this hard drive replaced without any issue.

Do Seagate offer 2 years of warranty in India too as per varkey post ???

UPDATE:

I called WD service center to confirm that product bought in US will entertain Indian warranty or not?
Surprisingly they told me that that Ext. HDD can be replaced in India since it carries International Warranty.
Since Seagate acquired WD, it was obvious move.

I believe that's what the email from them confirmed! :P

Btw its valid for internal drives as well

This is applicable for both External and internal drive, as long you have the proof of purchase, and our approval email, you will not have any problem replacing your hard drive in India.

So basically when you want to RMA the disk, open a case with Seagate US through their website along with the proof of purchase and they will send an approval mail. Print it and take it along with the hard disk to Accel Frontline to get it replaced.
 
Finally bought the Toshiba 3TB Canvio Desk Desktop External Hard Drive (Black/Black) (HDWC130XK3J1) from Amazon for 7670 . ishop could have been cheaper but diidnt want the hassle of ishop not doing anything if its dead . With Amazon at least I have the 30 days windows to check the HDD in detail . It might not have warranty but its sold in India also , will confirm that on arrival . For little more Seagate Expansion 3 TB USB 3.0 Desktop External Hard Drive STBV3000100 for $120 is also available in which Indian warranty can be claimed @varkey

@kuduku : Even iShop would've charged Rs 7850, so getting it through Amazon is altogether the best option.
