hdd's dont have international warranties. the warranty is valid only in country of sale.
Nice to know. But after taking printouts, etc, what if the people here in india (accel) refuse to accept saying they dont know?
then i guess there's nothing to worry.I did read few posts in Seagate support forum saying they were able to get it replaced after showing the approval mail.
I have received my HDD . One major issue warranty is not covered by Toshiba directly but through Amazon . In Toshiba US Warranty check page serial number is wrong . Then went to check serial number from Toshiba webpage on Rashi website which is Authorized service for Toshiba HDD . On that page HDD is in warranty but owner name is Amazon . Then spoke to Amazon CC , they said that in US they HDD to be sent to Toshiba US and they will confirm the warranty from Amazon .Finally bought the Toshiba 3TB Canvio Desk Desktop External Hard Drive (Black/Black) (HDWC130XK3J1) from Amazon for 7670 . ishop could have been cheaper but diidnt want the hassle of ishop not doing anything if its dead . With Amazon at least I have the 30 days windows to check the HDD in detail . It might not have warranty but its sold in India also , will confirm that on arrival . For little more Seagate Expansion 3 TB USB 3.0 Desktop External Hard Drive STBV3000100 for $120 is also available in which Indian warranty can be claimed @varkey
really dont know ? I am testing it with HDtune and will do so with seagate seatools also . Atleast its covered for 30 days by Amazon . If it works fine for 30 days then I hope there will be no issues . I will call up Toshiba India tomorrow and ask them with serial numberso what s the option now ?
Send it back to US if something goes wrong or ask local toshiba to do something
DHL express then Bluedart to my place . Error check is on , will take 1 full day . Will call Rashi tomorrow@kuduku : If the Indian warranty status page says its in warranty I guess you can claim it in India. Anyway just call Rashi office and ask them to check the status from their end!
Btw by which courier did they send it?
I have the one month time from Amazon to check it out so dont want to take any chances . Full error scan is still on and might finish by night .is there a need to do full error check of the hdd? asking cause if anything should go wrong, it will be in the first few sectors of the hdd. checking first 1-10GB of hdd is more than enough to get a view of hdd status imo.

I had called up Rashi also . The model number is not covered by them and serial number also doesnt show any reply . So i am on my own . Now would like to be double sure in first month that it is okay
Yeah, that's the problem you might face even after the assurance from Seagate.
@kuduku bought a Toshiba drive not a Seagate!
