guys...need help here..i got the dockstar and am using it without the software. Everything works fine, but i cannot safely remove the drive, every time i remove physically and connect to laptop it asks for chkdisk and scans...is there a way to eject a drive without using there software..
^ You'll have to manually unmount the drives from the shell I think. What do you mean by using without the software?
Btw the debian installation is very simple now and you can connect the drives in any order and it will boot from the bootable flash drive correctly. The new installer uses a new uboot and always boots from the USB first and if unsuccessful boots into PogoPlug. The installer has been updated so you just have to follow the steps listed here
And to Scan all USB devices and boot from the first bootable device

Sorry man, I dont have a good cam, my phone camera sucks. You can check this post, I didn't use any of the connectors which he used, just manually wrapped the wires around the pins like shown in this pic

/etc/transmission-daemon/settings.jsonIn that you need to change the rpc settings. Also to manage the samba shares etc install Webmin, it will be much easier.

Sorry for the delay, was busy with classes etc and this weekend also I will be away!

installed webmin but couldn't manage to share a usb drive..
what ever i do, in windows 7 its asking for network password or its saying contact administrator...
also, i noticed that i don't have SMBPASSWD in the samba instalation path...
can u give me a brief instructions on mounting an USB drve and sharing it...

There should be a space in the "rubbootcmd_original".
Reset that command by using the command below from the 1st original uboot itself.
setenv bootcmd 'run if_connected bootcmd_usb; run bootcmd_original'
And looks like your USB installation has some issues, anyway once the above command is verified, install the new uboot in mtd0 following the instructions @ Configuring u-Boot for the Dockstar
After installing the new uboot my dockstar is very stable even after power failures etc
archat68 - You can configure the dockstar to login automatically at 2 and disconnect at 8, or if you want you can configure it to reboot the modem at the specified times. Anyway that device is really great, I'll probably have other uses for it

Well, what do you know?! I managed to unbrick my dockstar. Of course, it wasn't possible without the help of varkey and Jeff Doozan.
It's running on Debian now by default. However, I want to set a static ip. Should I do it like this?

I usually set it from Webmin, not sure about the ifconfig command. Or you can manually edit the /etc/network/interfaces file and set the ip -- /etc/network/interfaces Ubuntu Linux networking example
