goFlex series from seagate comes with replacable connectors. so you can buy the usb3 connector sold separately by seagate and "upgrade"

Yupp!! The trick is the connectors, you can get eSATA, USB 3.0, Firewire etc connectors(These are SATA to eSATA/Firewire/USB 2.0/USB 3.0 converter to be exact). Actually when you detach the connector you will be able to see it has same SATA port and SATA power port (which normally all external drives have:ashamed: but not visible in rest) as your normal 2.5/3.5" HDD.

You can even connect and use this drive as 2.5" Internal :ohyeah:

Tried connecting with their "Live Help" - no response whatsoever.

I wonder if these are refurbs, if so, what would be the warranty period on them? It's a really good deal for the price.
 
I spoke to them on phone. As per the caller the Seagate HDD is new and would carry 1 year manufacturer warranty. I think its still a great deal. Going to order one for myself.

Its turning out to be a lil bit costly :P
 
But the girl said its 1 year only.. So I am wondering whether its new or refurb.. and as per the link provided above for faqs. it says the refurb will say so otherwise it should be considered as new.

should we go for it or not ??

These guys have a warehouse in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra. If anyone lives there can find out more details about the product. I have asked the rep to let me know the technical details about the hard drive. model, rpm etc. In case its 7200rpm then I would take it.

some points to remember.

1. its a brand new manufacturer's seconds product. some cosmetic defect etc.
2. carries 1 year manufacturer's and 3 months GreenDust warranty only if you have the invoice with you.
3. You have to order it online. or get it from the warehouse.
4. 7 days return policy but don't count too much on that.
