Hi All,

I found a local Accel centre listed for Seagate RMA in hyderabad. Now the question is, is it best to submit the HDD directly to them and wait for the delivery back or is it better to send it via courier to thier chennai office??

If i walk-in directly to the centre and submit it there, will I be able to get it through courier to my home address or do i have to walk-in back to get the RMAed HDD?

Is walking-in a simpler procedure or is it going to be a time consuming affair.

Please help me with your knowledge on this.

you have to walk in to get your hard disk . They don't courier it back . If you have Adequate packaging available best is to courier it to their Chennai address .

@rakesh_ic: What did you choose to do finally? Did you give the drive at the local Accel branch or couriered it to their Chennai office?

My 2TB ST2000DL003 is DOA and I realised it a whole one month later because I chose to connect it now - what a bummer! Now Prime wouldn't accept the drive for a replacement citing the delay. :(

Created a profile at their Online Warranty Management System but could not complete the Call Registration procedure - the site throws an error upon clicking Submit after entering the required details.

Would like to know how you went about with the RMA process. TIA!

I went to the Accel guys.. There is not much of a fuss, u just have to go there, submit the disk and they will give u a receipt. Once the HDD is ready, they will msg u on your mobile number and u will have to go back to the Accel center to collect the RMAed disk.

It hardly took me 20 min to submit and even to collect.

Hey thanks for the response! :)

So you did not create any profile or anything given at the link here - Accel Warranty Management System

And just walked into the Accel branch with the defective drive? How long did it take for the replacement drive to arrive? Was it a refurbished/certified repaired drive?

Apologies for so many queries! This happens to be the first time a Seagate drive has conked on me! :ashamed:

I created the profile in Accel warranty management and then walked into the service center. Sorry for missing that..

I am not sure if that had any significance or is mandatory. But I rem the person asking me if I have done that and I replies a yes :) So I think creating a request in Accel warranty and then walking in would be a wiser thing to do.. its all about 10 min of form filling :)
Also dont confuse between the form Accel (the link you have) has provided with the Seagate one (they have a warranty claim procedure in thier site). When you fill in for an RMA in seagate site, you will have to send the HDD to Chennai as that is the only location available in the site.

I got a refurbished drive in return.

I am open to as many questions as u have and am happy to help. :) :) :P

Thanks a bunch Rakesh! :)

Successfully registered a call at their WMS link and generated a reference ID. Will go to their local branch today.

Did you submit the drive in the anti-static cover?

How long did it take for the replacement to arrive?

I submitted it in in an anti-static cover that I got with my WD disk.. But yeah, I have seen them accepting without any anti-static covers as well. So if you have one, well and good. Otherwise dont worry about it.

It took nearly 10 days to get a msg from them.

Alright so I left early from work yesterday, quickly packed the defective drive in an old anti-static cover, wrapped it in some newspaper and left for the Accel branch. To my surprise, the branch was hardly 100 yards from my home! :D

The lady at the desk asked me for the drive and the registration details. She handed me over a receipt and told me that they would notify me over SMS about the status of the disk - if it can be repaired I shall be intimated in 2 days' time or it may be replaced with a refurbished drive which can take about a month. I said I am fine with that and left the place.

Hope I get it a bit sooner. A month is a bit too much! :(

please someone post the phonenumber and exact address of the the accel frontline centre in Mumbai.
I take it that they have one in andheri and I have two drives to RMA. :P
