the issue is that...

ST3500320AS was just launched.. had ordered one... dealer gave ST3500320SV by mistake.. i returned the drive immediatiely...he again brought the same model.. i returned it back the same instance.. then he gets me this drive...

in the mean while i forget about the bill, it still has the old serial of SV drive..

the only thing that i have against the dealer is his sticker on the drive.

the dealer puts his sticker on every product he retails and this has saved me some time on this case.

the dealer game me contact number of the seagate's regional sales and they confirmed that drive will be replaced via the channel they imported it through.. Even seagate toll free for india confirms that my drive is fit for warranty.

the dealer says the replacement will be given but it will take time...

he asked me for the purchase bill that i had..even with that incorrect serial..

to check his sales records.

i went to confirm that day before yesterday..

even dealer has not corrected the serial number and date in his records but he has still accepted the drive on the basis of his sticker.

just that he too realized the drive being OEM yesterday and brought it to my attention.

i hope i get the warranty asap.

will still contact seagate about the issue of OEM drives being retailed.

there is no mark..

a small sentence telling that the drive is OEM.

will go to the shop and take a snap if drive is still with the dealer.

at a first glance one can not tell a difference between OEM and retail drive...there is no special mark or colour coding to distinguish. will update with a pic.

OEM or non-OEM, when Segate India is accepting that the drive is indeed under warranty they will have to change it. Shoot a mail to Segate india and ask them to validate over mail that the Drive is indeed under warranty and ask them replace it through the normal process(Accel Frontline) as they only say that the product belongs to them and is under warranty.

If the drive is still with dealer, click couple of pics, with and without serial number, model number etc for your reference(as bill has serial number of previous HDD) and ask for complete details from your retailer, he is also to be blamed.

UPDATE:

after waiting fo around 60business days... the hard drive is still with the retailer.

he issued me a WD5000AAKS (Blue) on 3rd of this month.

the drive is under warranty till 24th Feb 2015 :) :hap2:

Although there is no update regarding what seagate has to react on the matter.

the case which i had submitted to seagate is unanswered after what I have posted in the thread about it. and they are showing no interest at in clearing things.

i will get in contact with the dealer and see if there is anything we should be knowing about seagate.
