Gave my seagate 500GB for RMA (3 bad sectors and health was 88%) on 25th evening today i got a SMS saying the replacement for the drive is ready and i can collect it.The lady at ACCEL said it will take a minimum of 2 weeks to replace the drive...Then how did they replace my drive so fast:huh: are they gonna return me the same drive?:(.

Don't worry collect it, check it at your place or if allow check at ACCEL it self, if you found same or other problem, just hand over it to accel again.

The thing is i have to travel 3Hrs just to reach chennai from my place....if they allow me to test the drive there itself then no problem...hope its not the same drive.

Just sms/mail them & get confirm. I too requires to send my hdd 2nd time to get it replaced, first time they returned me same old one.

Thank you OP :) Will stick to WD always atleast you get home pick & delivery.
I also have a WD blue 500GB that suddenly "vanished" taking all the data....i am not sure if its safe to send the drive for RMA or not as the drive has like 20Gigs of P0rn in it.I can forgive seagate as it at least gave me a chance to wipe the drive clean but WD....:@

well....lets hope he has it.....and from next time he maintains a database of serial;l no's

no give a new drive. serial should also be there on the confirmation slip they give to you which you take to accel to get rma-ed disk. compare the serial in slip with that of newly rma-ed drive.

I appreciate your honesty... Trust me, I seriously do... It goes out to prove that we do have some honest people here afterall...

As for the query, I don't think u'll get the same drive. HDDs cannot be repaired as such. And I have never seen or heard a case where a person got the same HDD after RMA.

At most, u'll end up getting a Certified Repaired Drive (which is as good as a new drive) but the Serial number will be different than from your drive.

Not so simple. How many shopkeepers write serial numbers on the Bill?
Well, it should be the buyer's responsibility to insist that the Serial Number is mentioned on the Purchase Invoice.

Here in Mumbai, all reputed sellers provide computerized purchase invoices that have serial numbers irrespective of whether you demand it or not.

I'm the One who got same Seagate HDD, with reply that there is no problem, send it again & 2nd time they found problem & replaced with New One.

What I meant is that if they accept your RMA, you generally don't get the same drive. In your case, the RMA was rejected at the first instance and hence you got the same drive.

ACCEL gave me a printout that has all the details of the drive like SR NO. ,PART NO.,Model etc so even if you dont have the SN no. on the bill you dont have to worry.

U'll have to return that printout when you accept a new drive. Just make sure you retain a Photocopy of that printout with you for future reference.
