hey guys,

my 500GB hdd died on me my last night, it detects in BIOS but I hear click-click noise and does not get back windows logo screen. so need to RMA it. I have created Customer ID from website.

Now when trying do "Call Registration", it does not show me service centre details. the "Nearest Location" popup is blank:@



But I am pretty sure that there is a RMA center in Jaipur, so what to do now? Should go directly to service center or do I absolutely need to complete "Call Registration" and get Temp Refer id.

Also, Is Anti Static bag necessary?
 
Have you registered your hard drive with your id?
Then it is done
Get a printout of the call and you are good to go.
Also i would suggest is tell them the site is giving me problems
They do the registration for you :P
 
I have registered myself but hdd registration is not done so can't get the print out. I get "No records found" In the screen where we do select nearest Service centre.

second time when i went there they didnt even ask me abt the online thing.

when you register online, there is only one location i.e chennai which u select..IT doesnt matter which location you select..You just need the customer id and the call number..thats it..i filled the same for myself yesterday...
 
last week went to seagate ctr for RMAing friends 500gb and they said they r having probs with their sites and also with transcend sites. So even having an id dint help that time. So all was done on paper work.:(

& hell..still today the problem isnt fixed.:@
shame on seagate..wat the hell they r upto?
with too many 500gbs getting replaced incl. mine i guess they r now becoming toooo lazy for everything.
 
Thanks everyone for help. I went with a customer id and ESD bag. no problems in RMA, while there many people roaming there whos rma has been rejected due to missing static bag or not having a customer id.

Now, the RMA status shows:
