The contents of the image are as follows

Hello,

thanks.

I burnt an image using nero only but it does not boot from either my desktop or laptop DVD ROM.

I have the correct boot sequence.

Have u tried to use this version?

Also for my 500GB new disk, HDTune returned a read error during Benchmark test.

Should I return this disk?

As suggested above by Sidhu,Download the sea tools if you have trouble in booting from cd,Try sea tools for windows from same link..Seagate Technology - SeaTools for Windows Run all tests in sea tools.RMA your hard disk in case of failed tests.

frankly,if your trying to get seatools to repair your HD to whatever extent possible , you have to run the DOS version ! The WIN version merely checks the HDD by performing 4 tests..

And the procedure is as mentioned above..

1.Download the "seatools for windows" image file and use Nero to open it and write it onto an empty cd..

2.As soon as you restart your comp, head to the 'setup' and change the booting order to your primary drive (cd/dvd) first!

3.Simultaneosly,open the drive and place the cd in it.

4.As you save the changes and exit 'setup' ,the pc restarts and then starts reading from the disc.In a few seconds you'll see the Seatools gui which is quite easy to work with.Run the necessary tests and it will take care of the rest!

hope this helped...

You have to burn the ISO and select the bootable option in your writer program. The bootable options will write to the boot sector of the CD.

Boot files would include IO.SYS, MSDOS.SYS BOOT.INI etc. The files you've mentioned don't seem to be system files.
