After a few weeks of rumours, Seagate’s senior product manager Barbara Craig has confirmed to Thinq that “we are announcing a 3TB drive later this year,” but the move to 3TB of storage space apparently involves a lot more work than simply upping the areal density.

Seagate confirms 3TB hard disk on the horizon

Windows XP, 32bit vista, 32bit win7 won't be supported.

64version of Linux,vista & Windows 7 will be supported.

Also, moving to GPT based partition structure from current MBR scheme might be needed.

The key point in that article is you cannot if you want to BOOT with it ;)

There is no problem using 3TB as a secondary as 48bit LBA should be able to handle drive sizes upto 15 PetaBytes.

The other point is this UEFI thing, and whether your mobo will be able to support it even if you do have any of the supported OS's mentioned above ?

^^

Ahem ahem, thats a hot news..../

Well I wonder what shall be the cost../

But with that launch the home storage solution will be revolutionised to new levels!!!
