no hard disk would fail when properly handed atleast most of the times. I guess segate has revised their policies in replacing customers hdd due to increased no of requests against replacements.
Recently my friend got his hdd back when approached a seagate service center and was told that they cannot take the part for replacement due to notable evidences that it could have been dropped from distance.

I don't think its like that. In fact none of my hard disks have failed due to rough handling.

Seagate also stamped the receipt when I handed over my HDD for RMA with the words "warranty is not applicable if disk slip is found while testing".

Now what does that mean?

Sadly Seagate is now giving those certified repaired HDDs and those have very poor quality controls. My 7200.11 failed twice within one week of replacement.
