Most people nowadays don't know but Seasonic once upon were king of the PSU, they still are.
Seasonic is rare brand where they manufacture their own PSU, Brand like corsair, deepcool all outsource their psu manufacturing to Seasonic .

I remember there used to be a tiring website for psus and i would love reading all those gold tiered psu reviews, those were the days .

Should be, Jon's with corsiar now. Nowadays its Cybenetics/Hardware Buster (Aris) and others throwing their hat in with Ltt Labs. Then there's also the tier list

The S2II was legendary. S2III was garbage, which was a rare L from Seasonic.

Copying my own comment from another post:
S12ii was good enough for its time but its design is super old and it was rated low priority even in D tier in the now obsolete older tier list.
In the latest tier list, S12III, the updated version of II, is listed as F and to be avoided. A no-name brand with 2-3K price range on amazon but with latest design would be preferable to that. At least you get some warranty and parts that aren't at worn down.
You would be better off with a recent cooler master MWE V2 V3 or Deepcool/MSI with at least C rating on the latest tier rating, even for office PCs as the newer mobos and cpus demand much cleaner and efficient power sources.
