second hand xbox arcade...is it worth it.??

hey guys,

first thing am complete xbox noob..(owned psp and ps2 only).

i am getting an offer to buy xbox arcade for rs 12k and is giving all accessories along with 14 orgi games.

he says that it is around 8 months old...but when i chked it online..it seems the production has stopped long back.reason he is selling, he got a ps3.

and i heard a lot about rrod problem...can arcade fall prey to it??

what are the things to be checked before buying a second hand xbox device??

can this device be modded ??

is it worth buying??

can you guys shed some light on these questions....and give your opinions..advantages and disadvantages.

i hace chked it but it doesnt mention abt xbox arcade...is this also seventh gen consoles and wht abt the rrod issue and is it worth buyin this for 12k??
 
If he says it's about 8 months old, then it must have 4 months left of official Microsoft warranty left on it. Ask him to show you the bill and check it.

Yes, it can be modded for a price.

If you are willing to spend around 12k, then you might as well buy the new Xbox 4gb which is much more reliable, safer and lighter.
 
^4 months of warranty plus an additional 2 years' RROD warranty IINM.

Ensure that the sticker beneath the faceplate is intact though. He can be asked to pry open the faceplate, and verify the seal before you confirm the deal. And ask him to confirm if the unit he is selling is a Jasper. Jaspers are far less prone to RROD issues.
