Accident: Honda Bike Hits a Volkswagen at 250 km/h

The Honda rider was traveling at such a "very high speed", his reaction time

was not sufficient enough to avoid this accident. Swedish Police estimate a

speed of ~250 KM/h (155mph) before the bike hit the slow moving car side-

on at an intersection. At that speed, they predicted that the rider's reaction

time (once the vehicle came into view) wasn't sufficient enough for him to

even apply the brakes. The car had two passengers and the bike rider was

found INSIDE the car with them. The Volkswagen actually flipped over from

the force of impact and landed 10 feet from where the collision took place.

All three involved (two in car and rider) were killed instantly. The Swedish Police and Road Safety Department placed this graphic demonstration at the Stockholm Motorcycle Fair. The sign above the display also noted that the rider had only recently obtained his license.

At 250 KM (155 mph) the operator is traveling at 227 feet per second. With normal reaction time to SEE-DECIDE-REACT of 1.6 seconds the above operator would have traveled over 363 feet while making a decision on what actions to take. In this incident the Swedish police indicate that no actions were taken.

Its in the first post.

yeah..... coz of the rash riding of the biker, all 3 of them were killed... 2 of them innocent people......

This was REALLY shocking...

OMG!!

Similar thing happened years back when i was in 10th:P - now thats really a long time back:rofl: !!

My classmate was riding pillion with his elder bro on an RD350!!
And they hit a richshaw, at 100kmph, in the middle where metal separates driver and passenger!!

Thankfully, there were no passengers and my pal flew over the rickshaw but a bit to the left!!
The rickshaw rolled over twice, just missing my pal!!
His bro fell down with the bike at the point of impact!!

Thankfully, minor injuries and one dazed but irate rickshawwallah:P !!

BTW, nice bike that CBR1000, i think!!
I still dig those 2xsquare tail lights!!

Thats horrible ! Shows how important it is to have control of the vehicle you are riding/driving..

@bikey thats a vfr750, looks like a limited edition race replica with the castrol colours.

Yeah, looked like those early days SBK machines!!
Usually spotted in Castrol Lubes posters and calendars of yore!!:P

Hey Anish,
They survived coz they were Bawas- passionate riders!!
Used to deck up in helmets, leather jackets and boots back then!!

My pal never got to touch that RD and when yrs later i got my RX, he would take it out for hours together!!
He called it Baby RD!!:P
Damn, even the kids in his building thought it was his bike and one day they asked me why i was taking his bike!!

Guys...... I am not up for rash driving, but general reaction time is not 1.6 seconds..... maybe when you are drunk, but if you are attentive, it way below.

Rem Brett Lee steaming in and bowling at close to 100 MPH. The bats man is a mere 22 (actually 20.something, 22 yards, is stump to stump, right?) and he still manages to manoeveur his bat and hit Lee for a Six (:weeeee:) So its a exageration.

Anyways check this out: http://www.techenclave.com/forums/check-ur-reaction-times-70093.html

I think most of the good batsmen have a good idea before the ball is bowled. Good batsmen can actually recognise the slower ball and stuff before the ball is actually bowled but looking at the action. And in case of batsmen it becomes a habit likewise in case of wicketkeepers. You can improve your reflexes by practice. Also in this case the driver just had a new license and his first accident had to be this horrible. I started driving slowly after my first ( actually third ) accident.

Most of TE members have good reaction times when it comes to games right. Practice makes a man perfect. Good reactions can be seen in CSS or UT ?? :ohyeah:
