Guys my friend is sending his iPhone 4 to me, he is from Delhi. Thing is he never sent anything from couriers nor does I know anything about it.

So I need help from you guys.

1) How it is to be packed ?
2) do he has mention that he is sending mobile ? that is of value of 30k ?
3) how to do insurance on it ? approx charges ???
4) any points necessary I/he should know.

I have decided to go with Blue dart. Thank you in advance :hap5:

I would advise you to send by TNt...

I have sent 2-3 iphones in past to various locations in India(Mostly Metro's) using TNT.They charge Rs150 for upto 500gms...

You can declare it as phone.A pickup can be arranged by TNT at your place who will pack the phone in front of you to ensure that Item description is matching to content.

Just ensure that you drain the battery before you send it to avoid any further problems.

^thank you for quick reply !

Does pick up request costs extra thing ? Also they pack it ? not us ? I thought we have to pack it.

and what about insurance ?

i asked TNT about shipping a phone a week back and they said they are not responsible if it gets stolen or lost and bluedart with insurance it will cost more than 3k for sure.

Free pickup at no extra cost...They may pack it but I always prefer to pack it myself...

why dude ?

So I should go with TNT, pick up and no insurance...

I pack in a way that no one can open it or it is easily noticeable if someone opens it in transit.

okay, even I ask him to do, pack it heavily.

okay, a good friend of mine saying, package can be lost in transit etc....what to do ?? I am scared :|

Blue dart insured. Period.

Mention exact costs and details of everything - contentd etc.

It will never get lost or stolen.

Yes it costs a bit more but its worth Complete peace of mind :)

^thanks for quick reply man !

any idea how much insurance costs ????

DTDC has 4%, say even Blue Dart also has same. Say if I mention its price as just 10k ? then ?

if he sends packages via Demand Draft on Delivery, would that make it safe ? As they have to collect DD.

Sent an iphone from delhi to Tn a week back. Pack it up like a bomb, declared it as an ipod worth 15000 bucks. I paid 440 rupees with insurance via dtdc.

I just called up TNT on their toll free number. Told them i want to ship a phone worth 7500 and they told me it WOULD NOT BE considered as normal courier but freight and they will charge about 1000 rupees for same. I told them that they used to send it earlier using normal courier but that guy told me they dont that anymore. Also when i told that i will undervalue the phone, he told me not to take risk as packages do get checked (dont know how) and it will incur heavy penalty if undervalue case is found.

Is India post is reliable ? Never tried them earlier, thats why.

so far I thought going with DTDC Plus with insurance. Blue Dart with insurance costs 3k !! or else I have to wait till someone is coming from Delhi [to my place or to Hyderabad or Bengaluru].

Guys how is Overnite Express ? I heard they accept Mobiles with no extra cost and can be insured at cheap. Came to know they have a feature called Mobile Express which is specifically for mobiles.

Any comments ??
