Recently picked up a pair of HD 202s. I'm been really disappointed with their performance thus far; do they sound crap before the burn in or whatever? If yes, how long does it take for them to burn in completely?
And what's with the bloody hissing noise in the background?

Cheers.

Yeah, its a nice long break in period AFAIK.

About the hissing I am not too sure about. Maybe the cable is bad ? Try the Senns on some other source and see if the hissing noise is still present.

How long exactly? Right now, they sound as average as the Rs. 150 Adcom headphones I once had.

The hissing is just on my computer. But when the headphones are only connected, and not in use, it's not there... :S

lol the 202s aint that great, its just a basic headphone..u shudnt expect much soundquality from it on PC, unless u intend to use it with some portable media players .

THe 201s are better than 202 . ANd if you want real sound quality..atleast go for an entry level audiophile headphones like Audio technica AD700

and the "break in period" is a joke for headphones like these .

I have 202 n find them great ....

no hissing ...no distortion...

bass is little hush.. but as they are in break in period so lets see...

if u have poor recording then definitely u will notice it with these..

No hissing on my set ..

if hissing is present when connected to PC then Try on any media player like ipod ...

if still u hear hissing..then go for RMA

if not then u need to check the ground connection for ur PC..

BTW: I have the same n find them good though its only 2 days..so still in break in ..

Hissing in wired headphones?!?

I have wireless headphones and a slight hissing at higher volumes(through the headphone) is pretty common.

The solution is to to keep the volume at the source at maximum and then adjust the the volume of your phones. So keep the volume in the Sounds tab, your media player etc at 100%. Maybe that could help.
