im getting one of these from singapore, both cost nearly the same.
not able to decide which one to go for :ashamed:

(my opinion)
Was decided on HD485 for a long while but i hear SR60 sounds better.
downside: SR60 is not as comfortable and durable as the senn
(/my opinion)

what should i do !?

^^You heard it right... SR60 sounds better but is uncomfortable for long listening sessions. I'd go on and say SR60 sounds better than HD555 as well especially if you listen to rock.

me using sr-60 with sennheiser hd-414 pads. better than stock pads and can listen to it for a long time but yes , it can get uncomfortable now and then but nothing like not bearable. if you into rock / metal , get the grado.

THANK YOU GUYS. that helped

im prolly going for Grado by my "Great sex come with a little pain"© philosophy

but the senn is beautiful! also more comfy!

okay anyway, what accesories would you recommend to go with with SR60? specially the pads.

also ... ummm .. im using a MSI RS482 ILD board, what differene would a fairly cheap sound card make ? is there a bang-for-the-buck soundblaster card ?

Yep the Grados have that aggressive sound that helps a lot with rock music. The Sennheisers are kinda laid back and refined sounding which sounds ok with anything.

Adding one more point to aid with the confusion :ashamed: - the Grados have NO soundstage. Some people prefer it that way, but in case you're using the headphones for a lot of gaming or movie watching too you may want to think twice.

Else if its just music you're after, the Grados should do a good job. I think you can manage sessions of upto 1 hr at a stretch with them which isnt too bad.

The bang for the buck Soundblaster card would be an SB Live 24-bit. People recommend staying away from the Audigy's in favour of the X-fi's.. but the X-fi starts off at an expensive price.

So i should go for SB Live 24bit, um should i get from Singapore, or here India. which is a better option?

Hows Audigy and Audigy SE ?

edit: i can find only SB Live 24 bit EXTERNAL on the creative site!

isnt the SB Live 24 bit renamed as Audigy ?

If you are buying in SG, you have a better option than the live 24bit... get a chaintech AV710. Also what eddy said is true. SR60 is absolutely not meant for gaming...

Sorry for hijacking ur thread aElien, but i wanna buy the SR60 too...but wud like to procure it locally...so whr can i buy these in Mumbai? Anyone??

Have heard a lot about them n since i'm not at all a gamer, i want something to go with my prog rock stuff...n since i work mostly in the night, i cant really pump up the volumes of my speakers as i stay with my parents...thts why was looking for a decent pair of headphones so tht the sound stays with me..:P

Also does the SR60 have a long cable? I mean, atleast 5-6 feet?

Got my HD485's a week back and am absolutely loving it.

BUT, of course I dont listen to rock music (ALL TRANCE :D) so I cant comment on that. I had heard reviews that for Trance/Techno/High BPM Music HD485s are better and am satisfied.

AND, the HD485s also feel uncomfortable for me after 1-2 hours of listening,I usually put them away for 5 minutes(maybe cos I have big ears :( ) and resume after that, so dont consider HD485s for looks and comfort alone, the SR60s might be only slightly more uncomfortable but the HD485s are not miles ahead either.

i bought a SR60 recently, and its totally worth it!

sound is very very clear. i dunno why people say its uncomfortable...

people just make a big deal out of it, i found them pretty comfortable, but after 2hrs or so it is slightly irritating. but nothin tht bad.
