We've been having huuge fluctuations here and its been severely affecting the electrical equipment at home. Right from my modem disconnecting every 10 minutes to the Plasma developing snags and the microwave oven showing damage due to unsteady power supply.

Now basically, its a big house, and a 2kVA inverter powers one fan and one light in every room (4 bedrooms + the hall, kitchen, dining, living room, vehranda, etc) along with the UPS for my server and some other stuff.

Now what I want to do is stabilize the entire house, so basically the main line is stabilized.

1. What should I be looking at? A Servo controlled stabilizer or a new Sine Wave Inverter itself?

Uncle was saying that the inverter wont work as there are 5ACs, 3 refrigerators, 3 TVs, plus the washing machines etc to run.

So essentially I need a large Servo controlled stabilizer, right?

2. In that case, what brands should I be looking at?

3. How effective are these devices in reducing fluctuations to the absolute bare minimal?

4. Also, roughly what capacity should I be looking at, assuming 4ACs plus a bunch of fans, lights, fridges, TVs, etc would be running simultaneously?

5. And what price range would this fall in?

And last but not the least, thank you very much! :)

Bump! Anybody, please help :S

well if u want to protect power fluctation then i suggest u go for a servo based stabilizer,my uncle used that to protect is $8000+ MERDIAN CD PL,Balanced Audio AMP,dynaudio setup.he used a VERTEX servo based stabilizer to protect is investment.

What brands of Servo stabilizers to look out for? And what about Constant Voltage transformers?

Where are the power gurus? Eazy, Zhop, Greenhorn?!

The name ELENT comes to my mind when I think about CVT's - this brand has been around for some years now.

Elent : CVT, Online UPS, Offline UPS, UPS Systems, Servo Controlled Voltage Stabilizers (SCVS), Indian UPS Manufacturers, UPS Exporter Electronic Enterprises, India
As for Servo stabilizers - what can be better then APC ?? They seem to have max 1200va available in India... check with them for larger capacity units

Line-R 1200VA Automatic Voltage Regulator

^ Thanks a ton Eazy! Also what would suit my purpose better, a Servo Controlled Stabilizer or CVT?

A good CVT will any day do a better job then a Servo Stabilizer. The difference between the 2 in layman terms would be like the difference between an ONLINE and OFFLINE UPS. I understand CVTs consume much more power, in fact if you run a 1kv CVT it will constantly consume 1kv of power, whilst a 1kv Stabilizer will consume only as much as the load placed on the unit. I am not 100% sure but I think a CVT costs MUCH more then a Stabilizer.

The formula for CVT's is , Power Consumed = 1/3*Rated Capacity + Load Current

Made a few inquiries, the Elent 2kVA CVT is priced at 18k+, another company Purevolt is quoting 13k+.

Any other suggestions? I'm looking at picking up the 2kVA Purevolt CVT.
