Setting up a VPN

I need some help.....i want to setup a VPN with some friends living in delhi but not on my local lan...

What i wanna know is..

IS it possible...we will be using it mainly to play games

Which software to use ??

and if possible the easiest way to configure it up..
 
Dont you think setting up a VPN for playing games is a overkill & completely eliminates its best sort out purpose?

Afterall I'm sure you wont be sending your most valuable data or passwords through the gaming channel.
 
well for me this is the best purpose for it...so i would really appreciate if some1 could post a solution regarding my request
