hey,

i use airtel broadband using Beetel 220x DSL router. i also had a D-link DI-524 router since a long time when i'd bought my laptop. But never bothered to use it as i didnt have a urge of using a wifi connection. but now i want to use a wifi connection.
so, i started with the instruction manual given along with the wifi router and did step-by-step as it was given there in the manual. Now, where the problem arises is. when i have done everything with setting up connections with wires etc., nothing comes up and i cant get an internet connection.
m new to all this.
what i did was.
1. connected router with the dsl modem through an ethernet cable.
2. connected the router with my laptop (i'm using laptop as my primary computer) through an ethernet cable.

what to do next?
how to setup now?
how can i make this work?
i cant see the router in LAN connections too..

please help.
i'm using windows 7 x86.

Regards,
Ankur

Cable -> Modem -> Dlink -> Laptop

The modem has to go to uplink port in D-Link

Use the other LAN ports to connect to your machine

It should work, I access my Internet using the same router

As tommy_vercetti said, the LAN cable from your modem should go into the WAN port for your router. Also I am not sure if Airtel uses dail up, if yes then you need to setup the PPPoE settings in your router. You have have to secure your router using WPA.
