what the difference between the two. Also can I run either on a XP SP3 sys if the CD is SP2 I think 4-5 years old - or will I have to slipstream sp3(ouch). Thanks guys..

sfc /scannow will replaced all the .dll files to the originals iff the dll's were changed but repair installation is gonna fix all files including inf's ( i mean all windows files)

sfc /scannow need the original disc you installed from. I dont know the behavior if you installed a service pack on top. I would suggest a slipstreamed disc ho.
