The first game begged for a sequel and we all knew Klei wouldn't back out of it. Let's welcome Shank back with it's sequel's announcement trailer:

and yes, it is Multi-platform and YES, we are ready to kick some more ass old school 'ishtyle! :D

At the Electronic Arts Vegas Game Show today, a sequel to Shank was announced -- and it won't be long before it's in our hands.

Shank 2 is being built from the ground-up and features online co-op support in what's described as an arcade-style survivor mode. Judging by the screens and the first, short trailer, it looks to be just as gorgeous as the first game.

"Creatively, Shank still has a lot to give," said developer Klei Entertainment's founder, Jamie Cheng. "We took the feedback from the community and ran with it, putting our own flavor on every change. For Shank 2, we literally took apart the game and put it back together to push the envelope in combat mechanics, visuals, and 2D animation in games."

"We are honored to again partner with the visionary talent of Klei Entertainment," added EA Partners business development director Jamil Moledina. "Shank 2 showcases their ability to blend emotionally resonant yet sardonically violent storytelling with pitch perfect controls and art design and confirms EA Partners' strategy of bringing the best independent games simultaneously to all leading digital platforms."

Shank 2 is scheduled to release on the same three platforms as the first one -- PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and PC -- in "early 2012."

Re: Shank 2 Discussion Thread!

OMG awesome! Loads of good titles and sequels lined up for next year.

Co-op gameplay was super fun. I've lost count of the number of times I had yelled at my roomie for not timing the moves right when we were battling the bosses in Shank. :D

Shank 2 release date announced

Announced last September, the game will be available on the PSN and PC in North America on February 7 for $9.99. It'll hit Xbox Live Arcade and the European PSN the following day for €9.99 or 800 Microsoft Points (£6.85).

Here's the official blurb:

Shank 2 returns with a story of redemption as Shank, a former mob hitman with a dark and vengeful past, is thrust back into action when the lives of those close to him are endangered. Expanding on the original game's rich and intuitive combat and control system, Shank 2 continues Klei's tradition of making fluid brawling controls and stunningly beautiful visuals that leapfrogs the competition in the 2D side-scrolling genre. The game also introduces an intense new, arcade-style survival co-op mode that has gamers working together to take down their foes, relying on the environment and weapon pick-ups for survival.

True that! We really need to consider fixing those Youtube links. Those guides would have been completely messed up now.

#Renegade, #Safin - Guys anything that can be done to fix the YouTube links as they were before? Only the relevant codes seem to appear now.

Me too. In fact, I figured, they might have made the main campaign playable in co-op, but it's a shame they left it out. Hope the single player campaign is worth it.

Ninja'd:

Completed the game last night and I'm a bit disappointed. I thought the first one was better. This game hardly lasted 2 1/2 hours for the SP campaign. Without a co-op campaign, that's a bloody short game I'd say. The boss fights were the only interesting thing for this game. The story wasn't really interesting. I also experienced a bit of jittery animations at times. The 360 version ran into severe technical issues, so decided to skip it entirely. Haven't tried the co-op survival mode yet, but overall, I'm not satisfied.

Started the game yesterday and completed the first chapter. Doesn't look any different barring the minor changes in combat. I mean same weapons, same tactics, similar enemy AI - not many noticeable changes. Looks like another decent time killer. I am definitely missing the co-op part though.
