This thread is to share your personal experience with the customs in India after you landed from your international destination. I know for the fact that Mumbai customs are notorious but there might be same / similar cases around the country.
I shall start with my own..

When i returned back from overseas the last time i travelled, i was stopped by Mumbai customs for carrying two laptops. After explaining them that one of the laptops is personal while other is official and showing them the papers and stickers on the official laptop, i was allowed to go. I did not have other electronics items (in check in bag) but that seemed to have escaped the scanner.
 
Never had a problem either in bangalore or mumbai airport. They just ask a question or two and then let you through.
 
not my experience but my friends....he was carrying two laptops and an ipad...all his personal and also not new.
customs officials charged him saying that only 2 of them are allowed and ipad is treated as a laptop. He was let off after 1 hour of argument. pathetic customs.
 
iPad being treated as laptop is most absurd reason that they give. I think someone who faces this issue should ask the customs should ask the customs official to show him where is internet explorer and where is the start button in the iPad since they say it is laptop. Sick and illiterate customs.

Between me and my wife, we will be having 2 personal laptops and 1 iPad and i am also concerned that they do not say that the iPad is a laptop.
And the iPad is well within the duty limit of 35K.
 
Till date i hadn't traveled to an international destination :down:

but got really bad experience with customs via courier :annoyed:
