sharing files on home network

hello guys!!
im not able share my files with the computers on my network.

my network is like

Router--> 8 port switch --> 2 computers

so these two computers are not able to share anything on LAN, but are able to use internet

Please tell what should i do..
A step by step tutorial will be really helpfull

And OS on both the systems is Win 7 Ultimate edition

You need both computers on the same network. Which router do you have? Have you enabled DHCP on it? This allows the router to give dynamic IPs to both computers.

Secondly, go to Network and Sharing Center>Change Adapter settings. Right click on the Local Connection>Status>Details.... What do you see in the following fields?

ipv4 address

ipv4 dhcp server

ipv4 subnet mask

ipv4 dns server

Also, it may be simply that you are not sharing properly. Are you able to see the any other computer when you go to Network?
