Hey,

My exams are about to get over, and I'll be renewing my internet connection...

I take internet services from a local provider: Speednet.

Now, my sister also needs internet on her laptop in another room, approx. 10 meters away from my room...

And speednet does not allow more than one computer to access internet...

They say I'll have to buy multiuser schemes, but they are very costly...

On single user packages, they dont even let me use a wireless router...

Actually they can let me use a router even on single user account , I was using my WiFi router for over a month , that time my sisters laptop n cellphone and dads laptop could use the same internet simultaneously...

But then the Speednet guys found this out, and changed some settings from their server, due to which I cannot access internet through my wireless router...

They did some wierd stuff, I mean I can connect to the internet through the router, and even ping Google and other sites, but I cannot access them through any browser, or cant download torrents...

So how can I use a single internet connection on multiple PC's???

you have to reconfigure your router

they cannot stop you from using a router you bought using your money AFAIK.

What do you mean by this ? Are you able to use internet through wifi router or not ? your statement is quite confusing.

It means he can Ping all websites but he cant able to browse or download..

In CMD he can able to ping google, but when he tries to open google.com in a browser its not accessible.

I think u just need to change a few setting in your router..

The way your ISP is disallowing Internet access when you are using a router is probably by looking at the TTL value of the packet. Every time a packet passes through a router, its TTL value is decremented by 1.

What you could try is incrementing the Default TTL value of all packets on your OS by 1 and then check if you are able to browse. Try setting it to 33 or 65 or 129.
To change your default TTL on Windows, check out Registry Tweak for Windows2000/XP/NT: Change Your Default TTL
Note: I am not sure if doing this violates the terms and conditions of your ISP.

^ I tried changing the TTL value, but when I ping

At 64TTL it shows 53TTL

At 65TTL it shows 54TTL

At 128TTL it shows 54TLL...

Seems like router is not letting it go over 54TTL...

How do I change TTL of router???

That is showing how many hops away the server is. The output is as expected.

With any of the 3 DefaultTTL values (33,65,129), are you able to open a website in a browser when connected via your router?

How do you connect to your ISP? Using pppoe?
Which WiFi router are you using?

The link to the registry tweak is for Windows 2000/XP/NT. I am not sure if the same tweak works for Windows Vista or Windows 7. Its possible a different tweak is required.

^ Yes I use PPPOE and I have Belink G Wireless router (Most Basic one)...

I used info from other site to tweak in Win7, It was no use changing it to 65...
