Hi,
I have a return authorization raised for an Amazon product weighing 18kg that was shipped to me using Amazon international shipping. It was delivered by Aramex here. As the product is defective I need to return the product using an economical airmail with tracking facility . Then Amazon would refund me the shipping charge + the entire order value.
Please suggest me a cheap economical airmail with tracking that I can use to return the product. If they can pick it up at my place that would be good.

Regards,
Sateesh.

Since you got this through Amazon, ask them to arrange for a shipper so that you dont have to take the hassle of getting the right provider, and it also takes away the risk component associated if the product doesnt reach them properly. I would be surprised if they refused.

As for shipping in general, India Post is the cheapest - and you will also get tracking while it is in the US, alternatively for peace of mind it is DHL (may be Fedex too but I haven't tried them). The price is steep though.

I chatted with their customer care rep. They said they can't arrange pickup for international addresses. Is there a way I can convince them to do so?

Also how is aramex? is it reasonable compared to DHL/Fedex? Or should I just select DHL/Fedex as Amazon is anyways going to refund the shipping charge?

What is the value of the item? Tell them that shipping it back would cost a *lot* or ask if they could provide their DHL account number, DHL would charge them directly in that case. Their negotiated price will be much better, so it will be beneficial for them too.

Haven't used Aramex for international, so can't comment.

What I would suggest is, look up the quote on DHL's website (Fedex charges exactly the same), and get a confirmation from Amazon that they are OK with that pricing. Chances are if the shipping is higher than your product's cost, they might send you a replacement. Unless you have bought one of those expensive HTSs :D

As a consumer, if you directly approach DHL to ship an 18 kg package, the price they quote will be be really really high. Get a quote from DHL / Fedex and inform Amazon the same, they will come up with some other alternative (including sending a replacement free of cost if you are lucky :P)

Use WorldNet Express if you want fast shipping (delivery within 4-5 days). It is basically a DHL service but since it is in association with Indian post it is much cheaper. Else use registered airmail from post office - it is cheapest trackable option.

Also, Amazon DO arrange international reverse pickup. They sent me a UPS reverse pick up label for returning my Kindle. UPS said they wouldn't ship anything with battery so I had to use worldnetexpress. They reimbursed me the shipping charge.

The value is ~16K INR. I will chat with them on DHL account no. Shipping estimates from the websites of fedex/DHL comes to the same value.

Actually I don't need a replacement as I find the design itself to be problematic.

Doublesight triple monitor flex stand ds330 sta for my 3x dell 2410 monitors for eyefinity. The stand just falls down with 3 monitors

OT : Looks like there is an error in the DS330-STA listing, the shipping weight is given as just 1 lb, which makes it eligible for Free Global Shipping, but actually it weighs 38 lbs. The previous model DS322-STA is not eligible of Free Global Shipping as it weighs 21 lbs and costs about $68 to ship to India. :P

Exactly that's why I ordered it with free international shipping. ;-)

Amazon...miss those days and know that i will NEVER get that service in this country. Call me pessimistic but this is true (IMO).
