So I need to buy a couple of things in Delhi including some metal sheets of dimension 7' x 7' x 3-4mm or larger. And some other metal and plastic products. Now since they are gonna be heavy and huge I don't think that any courier is simply going to accept the order request.
So what can I do about this?
Will a courier accept and charge like they do with other small orders? I can take this.

I need to get them shipped even with a high shipping cost (depends if its gonna be worth it but what I need are not available in my location so its not like I have much options).
I contacted Indigo airline for shipping a year ago and they have too many "hidden" charges. Base prices would be reasonable for a big business organization since they order in the bulk but not suited for individual.

Any help is much appreciated.

Do they accept "smaller" orders? The ones I do know move household stuff only. And this will also be a "national" order. North to East.

So I will be ordering Honeycomb mesh from a manufacturer in Rajasthan and getting it delivered at my village in Himachal.
Also recently ordered 5 sample plastic trays from a company in Pune to be delivered to Chandigarh.
The way this stuff is delivered is that these guys go to their local transport area (nearby deliveries) or logistics companies and book some space in a truck that was already going to the same destination.
The Rajasthan guy told me that transport would cost me Rs. 5/kg which was more than reasonable considering his price for the product was nearly Rs. 15 cheaper than the competition.
For the trays, they charged me a flat 1000 bucks in shipping, which seemed quite expensive, but I had to pay as I couldn't find those trays anywhere else.

You just need to find someone who is willing to go through these hassles for your order.

Any local transport company will do it. Trucks move everyday all over India.
Just make sure you inform them before hand on how you need the goods to be handled.

and @rdst_1 are they safe? They are metals so I'm not particularly worried about the handling but I just need them delivered safely and on time. How many days do they normally take to deliver?

Delhi to NE will take a long time. Think of it as surface shipping as stuff will move in trucks. As for the exact timeframe, only the shipper can tell you that. My shipment from Pune to Chandigarh was shipped out on 7th and I have no clue when it will be delivered.

Hmm...I will look for people coming home by train and then will tell them to cut the sheet to appropriate size. That might be better.

found someone who can buy the alu sheet. need packers and movers contacts. @rdst_1 can you share the contact info of the packers whom you hired?

Like I said, in my case the hiring of the transport was done by the people I bought the stuff from. You can ask for quotes from popular packers like Aggarwal.
