I got to hear burn-in'ed S4 today morning. Following is relative & short comparison b/w M2 & S4. I thought someone might benefit in deciding between the two.

In S4 Bass has slightly more thump, Midrange is slightly recessed, highs are slightly forward. Soundstage width of both M2 & S4 are similar. Soundstage depth of M2 is more. Bass texture of M2 is better. Realistic vibration feel (caused due to bass) is present in M2 but i couldnt feel it in S4. This all is relative to M2.

Do you have both of them ? I want to know if the Klipschh tips fit the M2, or any other iem for that matter. I dont seem to be comfortable with any other tips.

Actually its difficult to find an iem for which s4 tips fit. perhaps dba-02. Most iems have nozzle similar to m2 in size. Perhaps some here on te might own iems with smaller nozzle.

Im certain no other iem really gives me a comfortable fit so Im going to keep the Klipsch tips and upgrade to something I can use with them.

your view will change, get the triple flangs because you like to insert them in to canal, if i am not wrong.
search around ebay
or ask amarbir, now-a-days he is on fire.

What about comfort?? can we listen to m2 for long periods of time??
Well i listen to them for ~3 hours straight w/o any discomfort. Though if my memory serves me well, S4's small tips were relatively more comfortable.

I borrowed karan's S4 to decide on my next purchase of iems since my RE2 went bust :(. Using them on my 3GS the treble sounds too shrill & harsh. It overpowers the sound to the point that I cannot listen to them for even a short period of time. The bass on the other hand is amazing. It is punchy, controlled and seldom boomy. Just the right amount for me. They ARE very comfortable but the overall sound just kills it for me.

Playing them from my computer, after reducing the treble in the EQ, the sound evens out and becomes much more enjoyable. However there is no right preset on the iPhone. The iDevices suck in this regard since there is no graphic equalizer. And since I will be using my iems mostly on my phone these are a no-go.

Only now do I realize how much accurate and detailed my RE2's were. But they seriously lack in the bass department. Now after hearing all the rave reviews, planning to buy an M2.

@dragonball
you said the highs in s4 are slightly forward. have you heard the re2? if you have can you compare the highs in re2, s4 & m2? can anybody else also shed some light in this regard?

Paaji, I hate treble, like absolutely hate the shrill sound you're talking about. What I dont understand is how do you find the S4 sound shrill :s Like I cannot tolerate anything that is more on the higher side. There is a slight issue of siblance in the S4, maybe that is what is actually grabbing your attention. try a different playlist maybe ?

+1 ^

S4 sure has an issue of siblance ( not a lot though).

But why the treble hate ...really may be the siblance is bothering you as well. I mean try some good HPs with good treble.Because i find it hard to believe that someone can hate good quality treble.

I have the RE2 as well. So i can A-B M2 and RE2 if u want. But not S4. I only listened to S4 that day and can only recall (probably not accurately). But there was no hint of shrillness on S4. I like laid back signature hence M2 was more preferable to me as their highs are recessed. Highs were forward on S4 to the point of bringing the clarity in music, not to cause headache.

Go with M2 if u like warmth/laid-back ness in music. Remember that music is subjective and people's ears are different. Dont believe blindly on everything people are saying.

Ok, maybe shrill is too strong a word, but I do consider them to be overly bright. It might be because I was comparing RE2 and S4, but the 2 have very different sound signatures. I was listening my 'most played' tracklist and was comparing each song on both iems.

But I do prefer a slightly laidback sound rather than the 'right in your face' sound. :)
