Hi everyone,

I was thinkiing to buy Apple care protection for my Macbook. I think it would cost around 13k. I have forwarded the S.No. to the center in my city and they said they'll get back to me with the rates by tomorrow.

Should I actually go for the 2 yrs extra supoprt or skip it ? Though to be fair I'm already inclined to get it but any advice is welcome. And if I should get it then any suggestion which could help me save some bucks on it?

Regards

Makes a lot of sense buying extra warranty, considering spares for Macs are costly like hell if you go out of Warranty and god forbid your machine has a mishap, in which case you'll find yourself coughing up almost the price of the Laptop for getting only the LCD replaced and considering unlike any other laptops where some parts can be replaced/upgraded like us ourselves, the unibody design prevents any such tampering..

Get it it's totally worth it.

Apple Care is really a no brainer. Apple charges 30k for a new motherboard and 20k for a screen. If any of these components go bust after a year (and they do quite often) you're screwed very badly. Purchase the 3-year warranty extension with your eyes shut.

It is upon your usage & your needs.

If your Macbook is handled in a rough manner every now & then, then get one. else you dont need it.

I have the late 2008 model & it is still working perfectly.

^^ thanks a lot for the above suggestions. i think I'll buy the extension soon. Any idea about pricing? My dealer has yet not updated me regard the pricing.

Yes GET IT

You can get it for ~100$ on ebay.com

search for applecare and buy one from any seller with atleast a few thousand ratings

I bought mine from someone with 10k+ ratings and it cost 95$ instead of 13k locally

And yes, it is internationally valid

DO NOT buy it from eBay at any cost. If you really have to, make sure the seller gives you the physical box and not just the "code".

If you still want to save some cash though, get it from the states. LA computer company is an authorized Apple reseller and is currently selling AppleCare for around $180.

I have personally bought Applecare for 2 MacBooks, 2Macbook Pros and 2 iPhones from eBay via Code. No issues yet. I just get the code. Screw the box. You instantly get it activated. Buy it from some one with good ratings. If you get screwed, file a dispute, get your money back.

U can pay 7-8K on eBay and hope to god nothing happens, or buy it for 13.5K and have peace of mind. Personally, I like risks and would jump at the opportunity to save 4-5K.

Other than that, its all on your luck.

I am trying to get applecare for my 13" MBP 2010 model. Unable to get a price under 15k in India... I am a bit skeptical about buying it on ebay (US). Any suggestions where i can find a reasonable deal?

Thanks in advance guys...

get it from a store with bill/. if apple ends up asking u to produce a valid proof of purchase .. (which u wont get from ebay) ur screwed. ur 6/7k will go down the drain. might as well spend the extra bit and get peace of mind. :)
