Hi..

actually RAM prices are very low...so should i buy more ram for my machine..

currently i have

5600+, ASUS M2 AVM, 2 GB of kingston DDR2 667..

so if i buy DDR2 800.. will my MB support it(as i two sticks of 667 currently) ?

if i can insert 800 in it then may be i will add in future...but if i can add just 667 then maybe i will add now..

btw i am runnign XP.....but may switch to vista in future...
Thanks,

if u dont do graphic intensive work like rendering or smethin
...2gb ram is more than enugh...dont waste money re...
to check the max amt of ram being used in the current session
open task manager->performance->commit charge->peak

the value under peak is the max amt of ram that was used at a point of time in ur current session in kb's.

now u can very well figure out if u need more or not...
for ex if thats smethin like
834548....it means the max ram usage was only around 820mb .....so u dont need more ram at all...

true if your not doing gfx intensive stuff u'de rather stick to 2gb ram its more than enuf u actually don't require more than 2 gb if your gaming.

No need now unless you are into memory hungry applications like PS, 3D modelling, etc... and only if need it for professional requirements. :)

Later on you can buy 4x1GB DDR2 800 or 2x2GB sticks if you feel the need. :P

go with the above two guys, u don't need it now unless u are itching to spend, i don't see any GFX may be get a good GFX , say 8800gt. Ram prices will not fluctuate THAT much, and since the DDR3 is beginning to come down DDR2 wont go up, so relax.

u shouldn't be needing more as its enough for a daily-use PC
and buying more RAM would be like wasting ur money
max ram an average mid-range pc has is 2gb ans it should be enough
u should rather spend on buying a cool gaming mouse of something else that would be useful.

ok :) actually i am web devloper ..no gaming no graphic work... prices are very low so i thought i add another 2 GB b4 ddr2 667 disappear from market..

..btw ii checked that peak thing its 717 MB :)

n currently i use onboard gfx..but will add 8600gt later (i know i dont need a dedicated gfx card)..n i have logitech mx518.

Thanks guys .....really another 2 gb wont make any diff ? :) even i install vista...?

Thanks,

:) Actually if you are using a 32 bit OS then the max that will be detected will probably be around 3.5 GB..So putting 4 GB is useles...If you really want to then you can put in a 1GB stick extra...because as you say it might soon dissapear :)

1GB ddr2 667Mhz transcend costs only 1000 bucks in Bangalore
