now that everyone's talking abt the PS3, should i still go in for a PS2,concidering that ps2 games will keep coming till pro'lly next year end.and yes how does the graphic wuality compare to that on a PC,since the PS2 has a CPU @ 300 MH:( :@ ,so i don't expect much in terms of quality, is the GPU
good enough to provide decent visuals ??

and yes what kind of mod chips ship with the ps2, and are there any that prevent it from playing DVD movies/MP3's etc....?
 
No ways man.

Id say go for the Xbox 360 if not the PS3.

The only reason i thought of the PS2 was Black!

I just say it last night on Gamer TV. I went CRAZY! I hope there may just be a PC Port :(.

Should You get a PS2 ? Ofcourse :) ! Its never Too Late ! And about the graphics well considering that u r willing to buy a ps2 suggests that ur budjet is not too high ! If You Can afford a truly high end gaming PC then Go with the PC and do not buy the PS2 but if ur budjet is not much then i think PS2 is a must buy for u !

And if you are buying a PS2 from India { Grey market } then u dont have to worry about modchips as it comes with latest already installed mod chip ! PS2 DOES NOT PLAY MP3 OR VIDEO CDS ! It plays only ps1,ps2 games, DVD movies and audio cds ! PS2 in India's Grey market costs around 7.5 - 8k ! Memory card is rs 700 !

Although xbox 360 has arrived but still there are no mod chips available for it and therefore no P*****d Games ! Plus in INDIA its costs a bomb ! Its more than rs 20000 ! Forget about PS3 Until 2008 !

I definately Recommend You to buy the ps2 as there are tons of classic games that r available and also tons of classic upcoming games { see sticky ps2 thread }:hap2:
 
Hey Iam talking about INDIA Dude ! It will come in India in 2007 and will leave a BIG HOLE in ur pocket . Till 2008 it will get stable and the modchips would also be available !

Oh and BTW Xbox 360 official release date in INDIA is 2007 , So i think u can guess when will ps3 officially Hit INDIA !
 
The ps2's library is immence. Visuals compared with ps2 on a TV to a PC is mostly unoticable unless you're a graphics whore. Some games like Re4, Gow, 007 Everthing or Nothing, Haunting Ground, Re:Outbreak, Urban Reign, GT4, MGS3, WWE Smackdown series and way way plenty more look just fantastic on TV. And from where i can tell, it will be getting games till 2007 end at least.

Go through the ps2 sticky thread and you'll know ps2 is anything but fading away. Cosidering ps3 to at least 2008 to get modded, it'll be long wait.
 
Right now would be a good time to get a PS2,since its gotten really cheap andhas a HUGE game library.In other words,instant fun.PS3 is still a long way off,I think...
 
You Can also consider Xbox Dude ! If u r into First person shooters then i would recommend Xbox as it has got some killer Fps like halo , doom3 , far cry , half life 2 , chronicles of riddick etc But then if u like third person shooters Ps2 is loaded with them ! You wont find titles like God of war , devil may cry 3, Resident evil 4 , metal gear solid 3 on xbox ! So u have to make a choice !! But one important thing to note here is that microsoft has already closed the developments of any more games for xbox , so u wont find many upcoming titles , xbox is only gonna get third party support whereas PS2 is gonna have many more titles !

I reccomend the thread creator to go read some reviews off Gamespot or IGN. Do especially check out IGN's and Gamespot's awards for best grpahics of 2005. Lets see if Re4 has made it....

Don't get trapped in Saumils words he thinks we're all fools gaming on consoles and don't know the meaning of good graphics. The world is gaming on ps2, go get yours now. :hap2:

Go PC if you want DIE-HARD gfx, customization, online, strategy, simulators and a huge FPS library.

Calling IGN team fanboys Chaos? I kind of agree with them. Of course FEAR being on PC will have the better one technically. Even gamespot admired Re4 for its graphics though and named it its GOTY 2005, guess FEAR graphics weren't that great enough to look over its pathetic gameplay compared to Re4's.

You are doing ur thing again... dismissing FEAR without even playing it... FEAR is a pure action title with a few horror elements thrown in. Comparing it with resident evil is stupid...
 
let the RE4 come to pc then we will see :P

I didnt considered F.E.A.R graphics to be extraordinary. i mean it was good but could have been better. There are games with better graphics than both FEAR and RE4 ( I have seen RE4 in action on PS2 so dont tell me i havent :P ).

RE4 on GC looked much better though from the screenshots atleast. I dont know anyone that has GC in my friend circle and unfortunately its not on xbox or i would have tried it myself on my xbox.

Where FEAR scored for me is that it was successful in making a creepy environment, enough for me to stop playing it at mignight :P And that too without being all dark with only monsters popping in from everywhere like doom3. It had classical gameplay of FPS, i dont get it why you call it crappy gameplay params. There is nothing too new or too odd about its gameplay. Its classical FPS.

As far as the main question is concerned. I would say just get cheap PS2 or xbox for now. use it till the nov - dec and then move to next gen consoles.

Xbox 360 or even PS3 wont be a good buy before that here in India. I was saving for these next gen consoles but then realised its useless to buy it anytime soon so putting that fund into upgrading my current PC config to something better ;)
