Am thinking of getting a new camera, and the upcoming Panasonic TZ3 / ZS3 looks delicious! 10MP, 12x optical zoom, 720p video recording with a dedicated video button, and best of all, the optical zoom can be operated in video mode as well!! :hap2: The first review of it is also saying it's spectacular.

However, it's priced at $400 :'(

Anyway, assuming I can afford that, it still hasn't come out. It;s scheduled for a April release.

My basic question is: How long does it take for Panasonic models to officially come to India, and generally how much is the markup? (e.g. Canon ixus 80 was available here for about 12-13k when in the States it was for about 7-8K which is a HUGE markup!).

So should I wait for it to come out here (for warranty reasons) or should I have someone purchase it for me in the States?

I had got the TZ5 here with b/w for 15.4K while it was retailing for around $250 in the US

Anyway for 20k($400) odd I think you should also consider the Canon SX10, unless you really want a compact :)

^ No, I do want a compact. And it's not about ordering through KMD. I have people who can buy it and get it to India. No issues that way. Just whether the price difference is large or not.

well u should know that ultra zoom camera like SX10 and FZ28 not only produce better images, and are also very comfortable to hold and have better battery life, they have shoulder strap so u dont have to carry them in ur hand, most compact camera users carry them in their hand.
