In fact, I dont understand TE's obsession with having multiple threads at all. Do

Its more to do with organizing , its an undeniable fact that blingy/expensive stuff will invite more drool / discussion replies when compared to say a nondescript pen drive , so if somebody decides to showoff his newly launched quad core in that thread and two posts later someone posts his iPhone 3GS and two posts later there is an android phone , the replies would be maddeningly unorganized

According to me , it should be a suggestion , not a rule , since its difficult to implement

I think the everyday show off thread should be closed :|

BTW did we infract or give a warning to someone for posting in the everyday showoff thread? If not, then I don't see the point of this feedback thread. How hard is it to create a new thread. I feel we are arguing for the sake of arguing.

If it is hard to discern what should go where. The members and mods should not be made to work hard. Just close the everyday thread.

Or why dont we just let it be. I mean no moderating, if anyone wants to post his stuff in the everyday thread he can do it. And if he feels he needs a seperate thread, then thats fine too.

Cheers.

I'm with the OP on this rule. The poster must have his freedom at all costs. What if the poster is a gadget-fanboy and has purchases practically on every other day? That way the 'Show-off' section would overflow with this posts/topics.

hey, be glad we have a vibrant and inclusive forum. elsewhere this thread would have been deleted and the OP infarcted in a matter of seconds :P

I think that's the best suggestion right now. Earlier there were no issues so let's just close it and be done with it.

The thread was started with the aim of posting small change which normally one wouldn't be posting in the forums or is too embarrassed to post in the main forums. It worked properly for quite some time. But now that things are getting complicated let's just do away with it.

OP will be infarcted? :fear::fear::fear:

I agree but the users have to adhere to this. Since this is not happening, mods are resorting to a new rule/closure of the thread.

I say just put a text in bold by mods on the thread and close the thread for 2-3 days and reopen it. The time its closed, people will realise that they need to create a new thread for their purchases, when its reopened, they will start sticking to the suggestion. If not, close the thread and give a warning again. If it happens too often, close the thread for good.

I genuinely feel that it should be up to the person where he wants to post his buy, either on everyday or new thread.

Having said so, I also do subscribe to the view that a few heavy buys can hijack a thread for long.

If I had to vote between the two, I would go with freedom of choice of posting the show off wherever ones sees fit.

OT- Guys lets not make this personal and try and see we can carry out the debate on this suggestion as best as we can.

Well the suggestion was made and then the thread was closed by a day or so. It was the deja-vu all over again once i opened it again. So yes it was/is a suggestion but there has to be some seriousness attached to it isn't it?
