Communications minister Kapil Sibal is expected to launch Bharti Airtel's broadband wireless access (BWA) services based on 4G technology in Kolkata on Tuesday.

"We are expecting communications minister Kapil Sibal tomorrow," a senior company executive said.

A successor to the 3G and 2G families, 4G is expected to be five times quicker than 3G services. It would offer services such as high-definition mobile TV and video conferencing.

sibal=Airtel 4g.

serves them right

and then there will be 'tariff plan' page notifying that we'd have to pay like 50 bucks/mb for the real fast 4g experience..

Buggers are keen to announce 4G services, so that they will start charging 4G charges on Nokia 2G phones.

I am still using 2g services on iphone4 - Suffices my occasional / internet radio uses. I don't wanna pay 750 for same data usage !!

PS: another scam in progress.

If they do not want to compete with the ISPs and still want to make profit, they should disable tethering and make plans like 250/- for 1GB, 350/- for 2GB etc. Would be a win-win situation.

^^ How will disabling tethering help out ? Tether is a function which is offered in the phone, for which we pay when we buy the phone, it's not a plan offered by mobile operator.
<

The data speed will depend on the 2G or 3G speeds. How will disabling tether avoid it ? Even in tethering, once your data is finished, you will be charged on standard rates.
