Hi,

Have any of you tried this, or know anyone who has. The site states that they will ship to India.

Thanks guys..!

There has been GOs in TE for group buys from that site before. They do ship to India

Not dealers, members

Search teh hot deals section, find the thread starters and ask them for advice.

I'd got in some coolants directly as kmd doesn't import liquids. Was stuck in customs for almost a month. I'd suggest you go thru kmd.

^That way Chennaiites seems to have an advantage. The customs office in Chennai is reknown for clearing goods pretty quick I was told. PM bottle/shripad - I'm sure they have ordered quite a few items off SW.

^^

Okay sure will do that. Thanks. Also wanted to ask. Regarding custom clearance for goods coming from over seas, does one need to go personally to the office to get the clearance, or post clearance, the courier company picks it up...?

If you get it via DHL/FedEx, they usually handle customs for you. But, they do charge hefty fee for it.

If you get it via regular EMS speedpost, it comes in and sits at the customs office for a while. As long as they know to valuate it, they send it through a postman who collects the charges from you a your doorstep before handing over the parcel. In case they are unable to decide how to valuate it, they ask you to pay them a visit and clear things up.

Also, people have visited the customs office on their own accord when it has seemed like they were inordinately delaying the release.

My shipment was delivered directly at the shipping address (friend's place in Delhi). I know for sure he didn't do anything else cos he's too lazy to bother :). And I don't recall paying anything extra but it was a small shipment anyway, around 6k.

Have ordered tonnes of stuff from Gary and have never had issues. His service and prices rock. Awesome chap.

Order from them directly and they will not pose a problem, Indian customs is a spoil sport though, sometimes it lets the Elephant pass but at other times they stop a mouse from passing.....

Ask Garry to mark the parcel as A GIFT and the price of the parts as low as possible.

I have ordered 20-25 shipments from them. Had problems with 2 of them. But it was ages ago and that too the parcel was misplaced / stolen by local customs office.

But lot has changed since then and customs clearance of personal goods is much more streamlined now.

Its relatively safe these days, but you will need some patience if you use Standard USPS international shipment ( including EMS Priority and Express ) as even though description says 6-7 days, it takes that many days minimum to clear customs here. So anything from 2 - 6 weeks is your rough time frame for goods to land at your door.

Order accordingly.
