he,guys iv been using sify broadband connection for the past 4 months and frankly it sucks like hell.
i have being using the 256 ul connection for rs 1150 per month,
the problem is
1 the connection regurlarly fails connect to the server, this usually happens in the night and the problem continues till morning
2 the customer service sucks big time,u have to call those retards atleast 3 or 4 times to get any response, and the engineers take atleast 4 to 5 days to show up at u r house
3 also the speed in the day time yoyos alot, the dl sppeds some times go as low as 9kbps

after 4 months of this i have decided to either shift to tata or airtel, and i would advice anyone who is going for a broadband connection to keep sify as there last option,by the way i stay in bandra . if any one else is facing a hard time with sify please feel free to comment and abuse ...lol

Yep, their customer service is horrible, it takes like 3-4 days for them to even renew my account. One of their representatives who came to one of my friend's place to check a slow speed problem came in there and spent like 20 minutes ARRANGING all windows showing the speed of the connection and whatnot, all this for SCREENSHOTS and emailed them to some sify address and went away saying he'll look into the problem. Yeesh!

Now to mention that their client sucks an old donkey's balls, you can't backspace when you make a mistake when typing in a username\pass in the renew window and it automatically logs you out after every 12 hours regardless if you are using the net or not, for this to happen while I am playing it can be quite irritating. And then of course there's the popups.

I'd suggest hathway or iqara btw, a bit expensive but veryfew complaints about them

I can't change 'cause I will lose my lan connection and won't be able to connect to the local hubs :P
same here...and by the way Sify inst that bad....atleast in da last 3 mnths i havent had much problems... and get a good 8-11 kbps download speed on 64 kbps unlimited connection..and the local dc ++ hubs give good 2-3 mbps downlaod spped for latest games and movies stuff...

so in the end ..its worth paying 410 bucks ..for a avg. net connection and superb dc ++ shares..

ab1 even I had the same problem with sify...The connection just used to die every night at around 1:30 am...I had night unlimited connection at that time so I was super pissed.... There is no DC hub in my area so after a few complaints and some abusing I switched to MTNL.....

Switching from sify to Tata or mtnl ? is it like out of frying pan into the fire ? cos i also use sify..don't kill me for this for the past 2 1/2 years.. now tata has come over here, mtnl is also there.. so i am lil confused.. which one to go for? i shall be running a 256 or above speed connection... any suggestions??

Hi,

I have a different experience. I am a sify user of 256kbps plan with 1GB download limit.
Cost : Rs 650 /- with taxes.

I am quite satisfied with the service. Of course the customer service is not upto the mark and their response time is long compared to the others but I seem to get on an average,
speeds of 24 - 26 KB/s in the afternoon. Night download speeds are about 18 - 20 KB/s.

but i guess some folks are getting better speeds (torrents) with a tata connection than what u stating (with sify).. mine keeps fluctuating.. sometimes, its whooping 25 to 29kbps and sometimes sucking 5 to 10.. so, if tata is giving a better and stable speeds all the time for unlimited packages like 256 one (1123/-) than it can be an option... just need some feed back if tata is able to povide stability on its 256 or higher speed packages???

I have very good exp with Sify...our local sify customer service is spot on...they renew my account automatically n then come for the payment....D/L speeds are constantly b/w 25-30k b/sec.

Hardly ever goes offline n if any prob arises these guys solve it in a jiffy...

not same here buddy.. its the other way round.. i am getting 10 kbps on DAP with a 256 kbps connection.. n with repeated complaints to sify, they have probably dumped me as insane net user.. they don't reply me either.. bang the phone on me.. well quite a contrast from your sify experience.. :) i pay 1122/- per month for 10 kbps max speed.. (in day) luckly i get 20 to 25 kbps in night. n yes, have i mentioned sify is quite automatic.. when it rains (with exception) it stops pinging.. lmao..
