Hi friends , I have decided on the following system .
1. 3570k
2. GTX 670 or 7970 .
3. Corsair 400R .
4. Asus Maximus V gene
5. Gskill Sniper 2 x 4Gb .
.
.

Now I need to know the following about the Thermalright Silver Arrow
1. Will it fit properly in the 400R or will create problems .
2. Will it fit cause any problems because for the ram , this is important because I already have those rams .

The biggest question and a bit of a scare

3. Will it bend my maximus v gene motherboard ? .
Will the huge graphics card with the Silver arrow put too much torque pressure and cause the motherboard to bend ? .

Also if any other problems , please tell me . The price of SA is very good compared to competitors .

Thanks

Visiting this forum after a long time and noticed your thread. I see that your thread is a bit old but decided to reply anyway since I am currently using the Thermalright Silver Arrow myself.

Anyway, now let me answer your questions.

1. I am quite certain that it will fit just fine in the Corsair Carbide 400R.
2. The silver arrow has two 140mm fans and so you most likely won't be able to install one of them next to the RAM slots (this is why one of the fans provided with the Noctua NH-D14 is 120mm). You can still install one in the middle and the other next to rear cabinet fan. Some folks even recommend removing the rear cabinet fan. But in my case I have left it in.
3. No it shouldn't bend the motherboard. That's what the back plate is for. You just have to make sure that you install everything correctly.

Even I purchased the Silver Arrow due to the low price compared to the Noctua NH-D14. But installation was frustrating mainly because I installed it while the motherboard was still in the cabinet. The fan clips are weird and must be attached to the silver arrow before it is installed. Also, it was difficult getting the lower parts of the fan clips to attach to the fans due to lack of space (once again because motherboard was in the cabinet). I eventually managed it but it was very frustrating. Also the included thermal paste (Thermalright Chill Factor 3) is very difficult to spread which was another cause of frustration.

By the way, do not expect great overclocks with the Silver Arrow especially since you plan on purchasing 3570k. With my 3770k at 4.4Ghz, temps reached about 96°C after about 35 minutes of Prime95. I am currently using my CPU at stock speeds and will continue to do so till I really need the extra performance.

Buy the Silver Arrow only if you want a silent CPU cooler. And if you do decide to buy it, make sure that you install it before you install the motherboard in your cabinet. That way you should be able to avoid some frustration. :)
