my bro wants to play sim city .. actually i dont have any idea about this game and i have some noob questions regarding it.

1. Is SIM CITY different from SIMS ??

2. Which is the latest version of SIM CITY and what all expansion packs does it have ?

3. If SIMS is different from SIM CITY then what is the latest version of SIMS and what expansion packs does it have ?

simcity 4 is the latest.. and it`s expansion pack is named Rush Hour .

you get both of em together on a deluxe pack..

yes sim city is different from sims..

in sim city you have to literally build up a city from a small village to a hustling bustling metropolis. and have each city on a tile which is a part of the whole world (in game) .. so you can connect these tiles to create various types of cities. .. some tiles can have farms. some only industries.. some are big huge metropolis.. . and you can connect these to have your own set of cities which can be inter-dependend.. or independed from each other.

In sims you work on a personal level wherin you dictate the life of the characters you control.. you build you own house, have children etc etc..

in sims 2 you have(sims 2 is the latest)..

yup sim city is a really cool game. I havent played sims though. i know what it is though.

In sim city you are the mayor of a city and you need to increase your population, reduce pollution and do everything so that your people remain happy. At first your population wont grow they will start throwing trash at you for almost every action you take, but after some time they will start liking you. Actually its supposed to be a strategy game but if you follow a few general tips you can easily create a city.

sims deals with a particular family and how the people in the family grow and how they interact with ppl. i havent played this so dont know much.

there is no EP4.

family fun stuff & christmas party pack are just packages of some misc. items.
 
oh ya its kinda addon.

btw sims 2 is supposed to have 7 expansion packs.. so 4 more left to come :)

also if you wanna play sim city 4 then install the patch for it.. cause it eliminates many bugs in the game.. and for addons you can go to http://www.simtropolis.com/ .. one stop site for every addon/tutorial etc etc for the game..

oh man i gotta install sim city! lol
 
From one who had put many an hrs. with its alma mater Sims1 do say it's an extremly addictive game. It comes in the Real-Time strategy as well as God-based genre (Black & White comes to mind here). There used to be no. of sites which used to give all sort of goodies, free as well as paid ones. The great thing that was introduced in Sims was the ability to make one's own content & many a people made houses, clothes & all kinds of things which they wanted to have. Sims 2 does have the same. If u're the creative type then check out http://www.modthesims2.com/archive/index.php/f-114.html as starters. Once u're in it, u'll find the whole thing pretty addictive. Another way people have expressed themselves is to blog about their experience/alter ego in the game. Check out http://scallywaggles.blogsome.com/ for an example of this. With each edition the characters & their interactions with the environment becomes more fun/complex. Great game to play if u have a good graphics card+ a decent hdd like 120 GB, 160 GB.
 
Time for some more meat to go through.

First of all visit strangerhood.com to see some funky movies made by EA in order to see what experiences can one expect in Sims. Of course one can make one's own movie if wanted. then go to moveObjects on I love her creations. I just hope someday I can upgrade my system to a 939 or later chipset :)

Lastly download this movieas the newer expansion pack Pets is coming soon. Check it out. It's an addictive series/games & Will Wright is god (bowing down)
 
Finally got Sims1 + the 7 Expansions that I wanted. Now will be playing them till I don't know everything. So there goes 2-3 months of productive time. This time around also getting interested in editing the .far files which make the game as well as some other things. Bound to be pretty interesting times :)
