hi which is the Simple way to connect laptop and computer that is in 2 different rooms??

connect in the sense that it must be able to share the internet connection that is in the laptop...

also one more doubt..if the laptop is usin a 128/256kbps internet connection, can that be shared to the computer? will the PC get the same speed..

Laptop n PC are on 2 different rooms in a single house..

Me uses a Linksys WRT54G .

yes, it has a dedicated port which it uses to connect to most modems.

what internet do you have ?
 
Wired would be the cheapest and the most stable wway to connect..
if u need lot of portablity with that laptop then only get a wifi router..
Buffalo routers r good too..

i am using reliance netconnect(USB) 128kbps connection...

wat do i need on the PC(that is on the other room) to connect to a wireless router?
also could u tell me the steps that need to be done after buyin a wireless router?

the systems are on 2 different rooms n there is a hall in b/w so wiring is out of reach.
 
eventhough i am having wifi on the laptop i can't use it wirelessly onto the PC?

cos i am tired to switching from laptop to PC wen needed....

and wat all do i need to connect using cables if thats the only way?
 
then you'll need to get a wi if adapter for your PC - USB/PCI

and you'll have to run them in ad hoc mode, and even then cant be sure about teh range - whether you can get the signal across rooms
 
It might get signal it might not, depends on numbers of wall, Other electrical equipment Interference etc..... If feasible can U borrow a Wireless card PCI/USB or a router from someone to check if it works or not........
 
Wired option is better.. If you wanna stick with WIFI router..

Then make a Parabolic Antenna, it would increase few range.. My Huawei Router gives me ~30 Feet range with Antenna and ~22 feet without antenna.. So, it gives good effect :D

Make sure that you put your router on height ;)

from what i can see is that both the PC are close to the door and there's no much of interface in between so there should be no problem with it i think. But still i suggest trying it out first.

And bout the USB Modem.
U said that ur lappy has inbuilt Wi-fi. I would suggest that u use the guide posted by greenhorn above & use either a PCI/USB wireless card for your PC.

And rahulrulez meant Parabolic Antenna not Parabolic router :lol
Google a lil' bit to find how to build one yourself..........
 
oops my typo..hehe..lol!!

okie i will try but am gettin a bit confused abt the wired n wireless connections..

so the 2 things that i need to get is a wireless router n a USB wireless card..
