Skype ( rather say Microsoft ) is adding what they are calling "Conversation ads" to non-paying customers in their audio calls. The funny thing here is that they think that the people seeing the ads will discuss about the ads , that's why the name conversation ads. These ads will be served based on age, gender and related stuff. They are already selling these ad spaces .The ads can be purchased by companies in 55 markets, providing an "opportunity for marketers to reach our hundreds of millions of connected users in a place where they can have meaningful conversations about brands in a highly engaging environment."

Skype calls to feature ads big enough to interrupt any conversation | Ars Technica

In no way these ads are interrupting conversations. These are still pictures and not audio/video ads. Also, You can just minimize the screen during a voice call so as to not have to deal with these.
