I cant exactly remember any slider phone released recently for that price.

You can get Nokia 5300, Samsung E250, F250, Slik. I think u can get some Samsung D series in that price too.

If u increase ur budget to Rs.9k, u can get the Nokia 3600 slide which comes with a 3.2MP camera.

SE w580i should be around 9k i think.... go for that

The SE W580i has a really great screen. But I have heard that there is some problem with the keypad. I dont know if it has been rectified now or not.
Also, one of my friends has the phone and his phone has a terrible battery life. I cant say if it the problem of his particular phone only or if it is a problem of all W580i's. But to me, it seems as if the brilliant screen has taken its toll on the battery.

For me, the Nokia 3600 Slide is a better proposition if u increase ur budget to Rs.9k.

I have used the 3600 Slide. It has a nice design and is slim for a slider. Its keypad and construction is very good too.

DO NOT GO FOR NOKIA 5300.

The phone looks like a kids plastic phone!

Have you ever held the Nokia 5300 in ur hand? Did it feel like a kids plastic phone when it was in your hand?

My flatmate has it, he is a noob, so it was upon me to teach him how to do even the simple stuff like searching in the music lib.
Trust me, you really do not want to have that phone. It is shit!! The build quality and the feel of it gives you the impression that it is the phone for the first time school kid mobile user.

How can u search in the music library in a 5300? ?
The S40 v3 OS has no support for searching in the music library. The music library only has different categories like Artists, Albums, Genre etc. There is no searching of the library like in S60 OS by gradual typing of the name of the song.

I juss gave it as a quick reply. What i meant was i have had to showcase him some of the features. Its his first phone. I think it was probably how to view the tracks in the music library or how to delete them.
But i have taken it in hand, and would discourage you from buying it.

My brother was gifted a Nokia 5200(which I think is similar to the Nokia 5300). It's a really bad phone. The display is really poor and the phone keeps blinking i.e. there seems to be no way to turn it off. There are many other things he found unsatisfactory.

If the 5300 is similar, I don't think it's a good buy.

hey man i hv samsung E250 just 1 month old all new used for 2 weeks 1ly...all black colour...bought 4 4600 but willing to sell around 3.9k.....if interested pm me.............:hap2:

The screen of the 5200 and 5300 are totally different. The screen of the 5300 is similar to those found on the Nokia 6300 and 6233.

If u have used any new Nokia phone like the E51 or N78 you may have noticed the breathing light feature where a part around the D-pad blinks when there is a new sms or missed call alert. Since 5200 did not have any any such lights in the area around the D-pad(the concept was thought of after this particular phone was released), the feature has been incorporated and the alert is shown through the display which blinks to notify about sms and missed calls.
To turn it off, go to Profiles->choose any profile->click Personalise->Light Effects->Select "Off".

I think this new feature has been incorporated in all the old S40 phones through a firmware update.

Ah thats wrong. The screen in 5300 is same as in 6233 but not in 6300(this model comes with tft 16m thats why the screen quality is awesome in 6300)

Word of advice for those interested in 5300/5200, please don't go for these pathetic sliders.
