Okay so I've been forced to use the Airtel 2MBPS "unlimited" plan in Delhi, which technically is unlimited but is under the FUP (Fair Usage Policy) aka the F.U.P(F***** Up Policy).

I usually get a constant download speed @ around 250 Kbps till about the 15th of every month (my billing cycle starts on the 1st) and then the speeds drop to about 170-150.

So is there anyone else who is exasperatedly affected by this situation.

Also, read this:

How much are you paying?

I'm paying around 1299 per month(originally according to the plan i should be getting 512kbos during day and 1mbps during night),Some time back airtel doubled speeds and i was getting 1mbps day and 2mbps night.

After usage for some 15 days,i also got hit by the FUP,i called up customer care and bashed them saying that my plan had NO FUP originally and told him to restore to my original plan, which was duly done.

But from next month onwards, again started getting double speeds but strangely have not been hit by FUP so far,it has been 3 months :ohyeah:

But without digressing, and coming to the point,Airtel is known for their FUP policy.

In chennai, they are one of the best service providers in terms of reliability,so most people linger on to their service(so do I :ashamed:).

If you really do want to change and cant bear the frustration, you can lookup both MTNL and Reliance.

I think MTNL offers a 1mbps unlimited for 999 and similarly Reliance offers one for 1299 for 1mbps day and 2mbps night.

have your options open,while considering ISP's :)

TRAI babus are still sleeping...
yeah , really hilarious.

I guess, they donot understand what a broadband conn. is.

OP - You should count yourself lucky that even after FUP implementation your speeds drop to 150 kB/s. A friend of mine gets speeds up to 30kB/s after the 15th of the month.

I think MTNL is the best. On my 512 Combo plan @599/month, I get constant speeds of 64kB/s.

Those of you facing fup problem.

Just blast them saying you need to terminate your connection due to fup. This way I lifted fup off my 1mbps connection.

@^^

Agreed. Many of my friends on Airtel did just that and got their FUPs lifted. Threaten them that you will be terminating your connection from next month and enjoy full speeds. :)

I was also on the 1299 512kbps day 1Mbps night plan but when the double-speed thing came my plan got upgraded to 1mbps day & night. Im not getting 2mbps at night, just 1mbps. (Same FUP as before - 100GB)

Everyone who were on this plan seem to have got 1 mbps day and 2mbps night but not me, anyone else here in the same situation as me?

I called CC today to verify which plan I'm using currently, the guy told be that I'm on 1mpps day and night plan till 25GB and then 256kbps beyond that. :@

I told him that previously I was on 512kbps/1mbps plan which had an FUP of 100GB and not 25GB and he refused to believe that such a plan ever existed or I was ever on such a plan, he told me that I've been on FUP25Gb all along!

I called CC because I noticed I was getting 512kbps and not 1mbps as usual. Atleast I'm not down to 256kbps. And the worst part is I'm paying them around ~1.4k pm for this BS!

Is there any other ISP that could provide be atleast 1mbps throughout with 100GB FUP under 1.5k inclusive of all taxes in my area (i.e Punjab)?

On Airtel and am paying 1299 PM. Getting 1Mbps during the day and 2Mbps during the night (i.e 10pm - 6am). 120 KBps and 230 KBps max respectively. Not downloading much these day so not sure if any FUP being applied (50~60 GB per month).
