So much for religious blessings

Well I guess your knowledge of Biology is feeble  - even some Dinosaurs were carnivores. The carnivores evolved because if the herbivore population increased incessantly, then there would be a scarcity of plants, and ultimately there would be struggle amongst the animals for grass, the end result being the stronger would kill the weaker ones for survival. It is nature's / universe's way of balancing itself. Thats what my belief is anyway.

The thing that confounds me most is that why can't you see animals and plants both as organisms that get hurt. If you uproot a plant, its equivalent of killing an animal. Just because an animal is more expressive, you can't justify that eating plants is the natural way. Humans were naturally omnivores, if you want to verify, go check our evolution tree. However, with our superior intelligence we have now placed ourselves at the top of the food chain, which is not our natural place. We ideally should fall prey to a tiger or a lion :P but now we end up using their bones for medicine ! Thats how deadly humans have now become. If we don't mend our ways soon enough, we'll soon meet our doom. This debate of what to eat and what not to, is very trivial IMO as compared to the annihilation of life from the face of earth, at which mankind is hell bent.

Sorry for the biology lecture, but had to make my POV clear.

Cheers !

I will let the biology comment go by :) . When I eat an apple say, I dont cut down the whole tree !! This is true in most cases. Rice, Wheat, All kinds of fruits, most vegetables. .. Like I said, when I have the choice of eating good food .. and tasty food .. and healthy one too without resorting to non veg .. why should I eat non veg?

Man kind is not hell bent on annihilation of life. We are concerned with living .. of course there are lots of nuts out there who want to kill stuff .. but that is another thing. IMO, the worst problem with us is that we are stuck on this rock ( the big blue round one ) , and is not doing anything to expand. Anyway, once we exhaust the resources here ... we will be left with no option I guess. For example, Iron ore reserves at present seem quite vast, but iron ore could run out within 64 years based on an extremely conservative extrapolation of 2% growth per year. Aaah... but thats another topic altogether.. as for religion vs. non religion .. I prefer to live and let live .. as much as possible.

Hmm, easier to answer this if your not a veg, how bout this..

- proteins in meat are complete and take longer to digest than veg. i feel less hungry later after a non veg mean compared to a veg meal. which is why i go veg for lunch as don't want to be drowsy later. Veg is mostly carbs with little proteins and the body creaks down carbs a lot faster than it does proteins.

So to avoid this you load it up with fat, which is better avoided. Course some ppl beleive that fat is what makes food more tasty and they are correct but it comes with its cons.

- the joys of being a non-veg to some extent are bit lacking in this country i find compared to countries that are non-veg in majority. If i were to pull a figure out of the air, i'd say you see no more than 40% of what's really available elsewhere. To get the fat off the meat takes patience, its so sinewy and tough here but i leave that to the help to sort out. All the talk of too much red meat being bad for health does not really apply in this country, to eat that much one would be paying an exorbitant amount compared to in the west, and thats what makes its consumption a lot less unless it improves in quality and comes down in price.

i expect this will change as ppl become more prosperous, going veg is of course a damn sight cheaper than non-veg. In some ways a good pickle could substitute for meat, but only just, loaded in oils, you get fairly close energy wise. The thought of how much a living creature suffered does not enter the mind when one is hungry, in fact i find watching nature documentaries of wild animals doing their thing, circle of life and all quite stimulates the appetite.

Faith can make any person go dumb as can love. Whats wrong with the aforementioned suggession if it leads to better awareness...... awareness that can be of practical use at any crowded place.

I have no problem with better awareness, but implying non-religious people wouldn't panic on hearing a landslide underway right where they are is just a sadly misinformed idea that serves no other purpose but to satiate one's own ego.
