Okay so because of unknown reasons I managed to bend my pins of the mobo socket.

Not one of em but about 5 - 6 of them.

I already PMed Amarbir around evening but no reply as of yet.

Questions,

Anything else possible.

I mean locally replacing the socket or getting the pins to the position.
BTW, I think this will not be covered because they count this as physical damage.

Will attach the pic in 10 minutes :(

dsc00085em2.jpg

The first pic shows that 1 pin on left side is severly damged. Though I will try to do it with a thin thing such as a needle.

2nd pic may give you a better idea of the damage done.

Looks for black spots

Yupp Physical damage!! Only thing... see if u can try to get the pins in same rows with help of paper cutter or blade. I have managed to align pins accordingly by using blade in past with Foxconn MARS [Banglore - freak accident] and it still works ;)

But first thing, You gotta be extra cautious all da time :)

hey maybe u can try putting them back in in the same place.. and then try to replace that..will that work?.. not sure.. just a suggestion.. :ashamed:

Ah, was transferring :(

EDIT :

Okay I got some needles and some very thin things and went on to it.

Tried to get some pins into position untill i found out that the pin on the right side of the socket has been broken from the tip

Seems like that is not an option anymore.

Amarbir? Seems like he is the only option.

Should I even take a blind shot at trying to get it replaced from Asus?

i was gonna say try mechanical pencil but looks like its too late.
try gluing the broken pin back maybe they won't notice it?:P

Lol man be rational

Cant even see the pins when they are intact, how am I supposed to glue to parts

I had this issue once and the pin wasn't broken, but pushed partway through the pin assembly, hopefully this is the case. If you can get a good pair of small needle nose pliers or a precision screwdriver, with very careful pressure, you should be able to fix it.

Good luck

looking at the dirt / TIM inside the socket and outside it is a wonder ur m/b was working at all !!
anyways best wishes for a socket change or a m/b replacement.

You cant do anything with broken pins.Give to some one for replacement of socket LGA775.

Well you have bad luck with broken pin otherwise aligning bend pins is not difficult work if completed with some care.

Yup, aligning is not bad but i found that 1 of the pin was badly damaged and totally bent and when i tried to get it up, it just broke off :(

Anyways got in touch with amarbir and he says he can get it done

Thanks to everyone for your valuable suggestions :)

rashi mumbai...replaces the socket for 250-300.. that is if u wanna go through their process.

Most of the pins on the socket are just ground and vdd. Check the Intel datasheet for the broken pin. If its a gnd or vdd then you can just put your processor back and it will work fine. Ensure that the broken pin doesnt short with the adjacent pins.

or maybe you can just try and bend the max number of them properly.. and then try and get a replacement at asus..

Havent we had enough of Rashi already.
